Pregnant with Gallstones

I need to know what types of foods I can eat. On the last post some people posted to avoid these fats or those fats, but I specifically need to know what foods I can have. Today I found out my bowl of cereal that I eat EVERY morning was not such a great idea. I do not eat veggies, but I do love fruit. What did everyone else survive on. Right now I'm just eating dry cereal, apples, banana's and blueberries. I know this can't be good for me and I'm sure the baby is hungry for something else too!

Any thoughts or ideas on what I can eat that won't cause me stabbing pains?

I do go back to the doc tomorrow for a more in depth follow up and I can't wait.

What can I do next?

I ended up eating just about nothing -- lost a lot of weight and had to have the baby early. Not to scare you -- I am sure I was an extreme case. One thing I found to trigger attacks, which I would have not guessed, was black tea. I just tried very tiny meals (like lunch would be 5 crackers and an ounce of non fat cheese) and that helped somewhat. I ate egg whites sometimes, and that seemed fine. I NEVER ate anything with fat of any kind. Even some fruits are supposed to trigger attacks, like melons, so get a list from your doc.

Hello T.,

I'm sorry to hear you're having gallbladder issues. You can start by making sure you take probiotics and also digestive enzymes so your gallbladder doesn't have to work so hard. you can try the papaya enzyme chewables. they also have 'complete enzymes' one of the brands is 'NOW'. try not to eat too much at the time. you can take peppermint capsules. also drink a bit of peppermint tea after meals. avoid greasy, fried foods. also avoid hydrogenated oils. I hope this helps. and Congrats on your new addition to your family. God Bless! ~C.~

I survived on dry baked turkey breast and plain rice! I know not exciting at all. I did end up getting so bad I had to have my gallbladder taken out during the pregnancy. So good luck!

I wasn't pregnant when I had my gallstones, however, in terms of certain foods not causing an attack? Didn't work for me. It didn't matter WHAT I ate. There were several occasions where I had a pop tart or vegetables or something like that and an attack was brought on. I wish you the best of luck though. That was the absolute WORST pain of my life and I can't even imagine it happening while being pregnant. I would much rather be in labor again than go through a gallbladder attack again!! Hang in there!
