I'm almost 22 weeks pregnant with my 2nd girl, and i am TIRED. ALL. THE. TIME. Which makes it really hard taking care of a 19month old. I remember being tired with my first pregnancy, but not like this. Doesn't matter how much i sleep or nap, or rest, or make myself be active and do things, i just can never regain any energy. I'm finding it really hard to do the things i used to love doing, or playing with my lil one, it takes everything i've got. It's driving me crazy!! Days like today i just want to cry all day. WTH can i do to stop feeling so tired!?!
**Though i am looking for maybe an answer or two, i really just needed to vent. I feel like im going to lose my mind sometimes.

What can I do next?

Please feel free to vent. I wish I had suggestions for you because I'm looking for some too. I'm about 33 weeks along and have also been soooo exhausted. I know this comes along with pregnancy, but I don't remember it being this bad with my other two. It makes me want to cry too. Some days I get nothing whatsoever accomplished, and I have so much to do. I hate feeling like I've wasted an entire day. I know that so soon after I delivered, even with having a newborn, I regained so much of my energy back. Let's try to both look forward to that. :)

I'm 34 weeks prego and feel your pain! I have found that eating very few carbs and eating more protein can make a difference in my endurance ability. Also, eating a LOT of fruit is helpful. I am still very tired, but I have more energy since I started doing this.

In the morning I eat a grapefruit with salt on it, and 15-20 minutes later I sometimes follow it up with a couple pieces of bacon for protein (I can't have eggs, but if I could, I would eat a few eggs). Then an hour or so later I eat celery with peanut butter (2-4 of those). Then for lunch I eat a ham/cheese grilled sandwich for some protein. Then for another snack, I eat and apple or a bananas (w/peanut butter for protein). Then dinner, I make a protein type of meal of some sorts with chicken or beef. Then for my snack before bed, I eat an avocado dip (avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro, lemon juice, salt, garlic), and I feel satisfied.

It's been about a week that I've been eating like this. Prior to, I was eating a ton of protein and very little carb, but I really need the fruit to offer some energy. I had started swelling, and that has backed off some too since I've added the fruits.

Anyway, hope that helps. I hate the fatigue! I'm the same way. No matter how much I sleep, I have no energy. Sometimes it feels like low blood pressure killing me! I have four little ones to chase, and I'm dreaming of the day I am not fatigued like this so I can feel more successful:-)

And, sometimes the baby has growth spurts and drains all the energy out. But, again, the fruit has really helped. It gives energy. Protein gives endurance and strength. Carbs (bad carbs - pretty anything that is not fruit or veggie) seems to sap strength from me. I can eat tortilla chips with my avocado dip, and I can eat bread with my grilled ham/cheese sandwich, but I don't eat a lot of carbs beyond that. I only drink water. But if I eat much carb, out goes the energy!

Added: And like Rachel C said, anemia could be a partial cause too. I have am slightly anemic too. Usually they'll test you around 28 weeks for it. You can eat spinach salads, and it'll help with the iron. If you are anemic via the doctor, Floradix is good for iron. It's all natural, vegetarian, and quite absorbable (and it won't make you constipated like some others!).

First off, cut yourself some slack. This is just a short time in your life and the most important thing for you to do is to take care of yourself. Your 19 month old will NOT remember this time, so you'll lose some quality time now, but it'll all be fine in the long term. Sleep when you can and promise yourself to go with the flow.
As far as a suggestion - sometimes it can help to force some exercise and watch what you eat. Try walking every morning to get the blood flowing. Try stretching too (but don't put your head down for any length of time). Try drinking mint tea (no caffeine). It's refreshing.
Good luck and be nice to yourself.

Hi Mama
I am 33 weeks along. My 4 yr old is at school so I am just off for a nap now at 10 am before I have to leave to collect him at 12.30 pm. I am lucky to have finished work this week so I am heading to bed any chance I get.
You are not alone LOL.

Welcome to the club! I'm 17 weeks along with a 5 year old and there are days once he's on the school bus I go right back to bed! I have found that if i eat a powerbar and some oatmeal for breakfast it does help with the low energy. Hope it helps! And congrats on your baby

I feel for you; I was very tired with my son but with my daughter I literally had no energy. Even if I got sleep, I felt like I didn't. It could be that I was throwing up morning, noon and night throughout my pregnancy. I felt like I had vertigo. It was very hard on my son who was 2 1/2. Maybe you should try juicing. I wanted to do this but I don't have any family where I live and I just felt weak all the time. I took iron pills and wished that I could have taken more but my doctor didn't reccomend it. I also got huge. With my son, like I said, I was very tired but I still worked and walked and hung out with friends. I threw up a lot with him but I would fight it. Once I stopped fighting it, I would throw up and go to work.

You should talk with your doctor and see what he reccommends. You should try and get as much rest as you can and before long, you will give birth and you will have energy again.

You probably need to have your Dr do a CBC to check our iron level. This is about the time when anemia begins to develop. However, I do remember feeling SOOOO tired when I was pregnant with my third who was born just 20 months after my second. Hope you get some answers (and energy) soon. Make sure you are eating a lot of protein, complex carbs, and getting some exercise everyday (walking, swimming, etc--chasing toddler doesn't count). Nurse Midwife Mom

Yeah it sounds like you are anemic. You should be on iron supplements but check with your doctor and get your blood checked. Sounds like the same feeling I had all 3 pregnancies. I had to take iron pills 3 times a day. Good luck to you! All the best!

Have you told the Dr? You may need a blood check.

When I was pregnant ( 16 hrs ago) I had to take B-12 injections regularly. Those injections helped me!

I felt the same way with my second and third baby. I was so tired. I allowed myself one cup of coffee after i was finished with the morning sickness.
