M.M.
I took it with both of my kids (I take it for cold sores). 1 delivery was vaginal, 1 was a C-section. Both kids are fine with no evidence of having it the virus.
Valtrex is class B, so it's safe to take.
i am 28 weeks pregnant and my doctor prescribed me suppresive therapy of 500 MG twice a day which equals 1000 mg (Valacyclovir) per day. I havent taken it yet, because i feel that it should be taken around 32 weeks, and there is no studies shown that is okay for the baby. I am going to take it at 32 weeks. I do go through reccurent outbreaks.. My question for woman live with this and have gavent birth is
1. Did you take valtrex during preg?
2. How did you deliver?
3. What was the outcome of the babies health? meaning did he/she contract the virus?
I am just scared, and i am presistant for a c setion regarless, but i am now scared because i was reading that c section is not always save and has shown that mothers have passed it on to the babies still.. So i am worried.

Take it! It wont hurt the baby...it may help w/your outbreaks and by the time you have your kid s/he should be fine. No worries!! Good luck & congrats!
I took it most of the pregnancy. I was fine. The babies were fine. No problems. It was a non-issue.
I took it during my first pregnancy. Ended up having a c-section. "Baby" is seven now and fine. Didn't take it during my second pregnancy because the delivery was a planned c-section. 4 year old is fine. Good Luck!
I took valtrex during my pregnancy for about a week I believe, I got bells palsy due to a cold sore and weak immune system due to pregnancy. My daughter was born healthy and is now 4 and seems to be doing just fine! good luck sorry I don't have much info :)
I took it during all three of my pregnancies, gave birth to all 3 vaginally and all three were perfectly healthy!!
