I would love some recomendations for pregnancy cook books. I still have 20lbs on me from my last baby who is 15months and I really don't want to gain a bunch of weight. I need recipes of specific things to eat to help. There a lots of cook books out there so any help would be appreciated. Thank You!

What can I do next?

My copy of What to Expect When You're Expecting had a diet plan and recipes. It had specific lists of how much of this, how much of that, etc. They have a website but I haven't spent much time on it. The South Beach Diet also has a pregnancy/nursing diet on their website but you pay for membership. It may be mentioned in the book too, but the web site has more information and tons of recipes, but you can find a lot of those online on other sites if you search for them.

If I remember correctly, it's the same basic South Beach diet but with more dairy allowed so you're getting enough calcium. Again, very specific lists of foods and recipes. The nice thing about South Beach is it's more focused on the kinds of food you eat and not limiting how much - you eat until you are full but only the "good" stuff like vegetables and lean protein. Good luck!

I think it will be less complicated simply to look for healthy recipes. In pregnancy, you need a little extra protein and you don't need to "eat for two", actually. Keep things simple and make sure you get all food groups in moderation, along with taking your prenatal vitamin. Some walking or other exercise that you can handle is also recommended. Good luck! The best recipes are ones that are realistic and convenient for your and your family to make and eat. And congratulations!

I couldn't pass up this post because I was wondering, "are you me?" :)

I have a 15 month old and I am still carrying around 20 lbs of 'pregnancy weight.' lol.

My plan is to *try* to eat only veggies and fruits (in lieu of higher empty calories) for snacks.

As for a cookbook for pregnant moms, there is a book called "what to eat when you're Expecting." Lots of meal plans, recipes and advice.
