Hi L.,
I related to each one of your PMS symptoms. I always thought PMS was normal and I just had to deal w/ that rough two weeks but this past year (I did not have my period while nursing and when it came back I noticed this terrible PMS "monster" come out in me) it got so bad that I finally talked to my doctor about it. She said it sounded like premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), a cluster of emotional, motivational, cognitive, and behavioral changes which occur in regular association with elevated estrogen levels immediately prior to, or during the early phases, of menstruation. I am not the type to go on medication for almost anything! I am very healthy and do not like putting anything unnatural in my body. HOWEVER..... I couldn't handle another month of those horrible feelings you describe.
My family was suffering b/c of my terrible mood swings- we were all miserable for two weeks out of the month! So, I went on "SERAFEM" for PMDD (prozac). It has made a world of difference. I still feel a little edgy during my PMS time, but nothing like before.
My kids/husband are happier b/c mommy is not so grumpy and sad anymore! Perhaps this is the condition you have? I had it while I was younger as well but had never heard of PMDD and always thought I just had to snap out of it. I wish I had known sooner!
Good luck to you;>
