I don't know where 60608 is, but we use St. Helen's School on the corner of Augusta and Western for our daughter. We absolutely love it there and it is one of the most affordable programs in the city. This school was also ranked one of the top 25 non public schools in the city.
My nieces and nephews go to St Barbara's school just off Archer and troop(?). If they don't have a preschool program, perhaps they have some suggestions for you. good luck. xo
www.naeyc.org is a great place to start your search if you don't know a lot about finding good pre-ks in your area. Just type your ZIP code in the search box and you'll populate a list of centers/schools nearby. Make a list of ones you'd like to visit and go check them out. You'll quickly find which ones you like and which ones you dont.
hi,
i'm a pre-k teacher for cps. if you're looking for a public prek program, you can go to the cps website and get a list. once you find a school near you, you can contact the school to get a tour, application, etc. each school also has a school report card - a posting of test scores and demographics that might help you find a school you're interested in.
i'm not sure where 60608 is, but i'm assuming it's close to downtown. if you're looking for a private program, you have a lot of options, too. i would do a google search and check out websites. if you're going this route, you need to think about what you're looking for in a school, because each school has it's own philosophy. public schools are a bit different because they're held to state standards and regulations. you might also look at the ads in a chicago family magazine.
good luck!
feel free to email back if you have questions/comments or want some info about a particular school.
I live in 60659 area and I don't think you are to late but don't delay any longer. If you can get him into a montessori school by age three you will be in heaven. The next best thing is a charter school or magnet school. All three of the schools interconnect all studies of english, math, science and history. Have fun and shop around. Always check out the schools and go with your gut to pick the right one for you.
