I live in Streamwood and we didn't lose power at all. It always happens on the hottest days! Hope it comes on soon!
I am curious where you live and when they estimate your power to be back on? My power has been out since about 7:15am and is still out at 2pm. The website (I"m chillin' at a Panera) says it should be back on at 3, BUT they have pushed it back a few times, so I'm not holding my breath. My neighbor said she called and they told her a few days! YIKES It's almost 100 with the heat index.
So after 30+ hours we have our power back, but about 100,000 do not and may not until Saturday. We had to through out some food and "rough" it in the dark for a while, but we survived. There was a crazy storm front that passed through Monday morning with 75 mph winds that snapped trees and powerlines. The power outage left almost 700,000 without in the Chicagoland area. They called in ComEd workers (power company) from surrounding states to help aid the recovery. There are three mobile command areas set up in the area (one in my town) with crews working nonstop to restore the power. What a mess. The newspaper article is linked here if you're interested.

Did you get your power back yet? I read that some people won't get it until Sat!
I am working in Elburn and it just came on within the last ten minutes.
@Dawn - isn't it wonderful living in St. Charles and not having to deal with ComEd :)
My power has been out since this morning, no estimate yet (as of 3pm) and I was told a couple days as well. The other side of our street has power. Not happy!
We're in Roscoe Village and didn't lose power, thankfully.
I'm in Bartlett and never lost power. I did lose an umbrella (it broke) and wind chimes (also broken) and two of my lawn chairs were in my yard. Pretty windy!
Not fun! I hope they get your power back on very soon! Also, just wanted to throw out a reminder to anyone in your situation to please check in on elderly neighbors and make sure they are managing the heat ok. As hard as it is on us, it can be especically tough on older folks.
Good luck!
I walked into work about 2 minutes before it started pouring! I haven't been outside to assess the damage. We are in the Montgomery area. Some people lost power, some didn't. My house luckily did not.
Gosh this sounds miserable for you all.. What happend? A storm? tornado? I have a friend visiting her daughter and 4 grand sons in the Carbondale area,, isnt that near Chicago? Hope youre all ok soon.
I'll quit complaining about the Humidity in Bloomington then. We got some thunder, a tiny bit of rain and now it's nice and sunny.
Hope you get power back soon!!!
We got alot of damage out here in Bolingbrook! My backyard says alot! Patio glass top table shattered all over the patio area! I know that some of my neighbors power went out but now have it? What I would do is keep calling to check and see when they can get it on, the sooner the better! Good Luck and stay cool!
.
My neighborhood just got power back on around 1:30pm. When a neighbor called this morning around 8am, ComEd told them "a few days" too -- thank heavens that wasn't true!! Our town/township/county around here has been doing a awesome job cleaning up all the trees that are down. Almost all of the Wheaton "major" stoplights had power restored by 11am, but there's a handful of random neighborhood stoplights still out.
Hang in there!
