Potty Training During the Night and Naps

My son is 3 and is potty trained. He is doing great!! But so far we have not mastered nights and naps. We still put a pull up or diaper on for naps and night time. Usually he will wake up from a nap dry, but almost every morning he is soaked! Right through the diaper! We go potty right before bed and have tried to limit his liquids before bed too. I was just wondering, is he physically capable of it at this age? Any suggestions??

What can I do next?

they master night time and naps all differently...i have three boys all mastered at different times my eldest was 2 months shy of his 3rd birthday, my middle child i yi yi mastered it age 3 yrs and 7 months and my youngest was 3 years and a few day.... it does take longer for there bodies to mature that night time feeling and if you have a deep hard sleeper a lil longer....

I have the same situation with my 2.5 yr old. I don't think they are capable of using the toilet at night yet. I hear of many 5 yr olds that even have difficulty. I would be happy if the diaper would just hold all of the liquid at night. I am changing sheets way too much!
Like you, I am trying to decrease liquid intake 1 hour before bed and he is using the toilet just before he goes to sleep.
I've even bought a larger size diaper, and that helped, but not completely.
I cannot use pull ups b/c they don't hold anything. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or if this is common.

if he is dry after nap most days... I would eliminate the pull up at nap.

some kids will pee in a pull up because they have one on...

it takessome kids a long long time to stay dry overnight... you can get him up when you go to bed but that might not work either... some day he will be dry... if the pull up is not absorbant enough... try the "good night" pants they are supposed to be better..

or a huggies overnight diaper. those are really absorbant.

Some 3 year olds are physically capable, some children will wet the bed until they are 7 or 8. My son is 3 1/2 and has been potty trained since May. He started wearing underwear to bed after a week (he insisted) and has only had 1 accident at night and it was when he had the flu. He has an amazing ability to go hours without using the bathroom. In fact he doesn't want to go for about 30-60 minutes after he wakes up. I usually have to force him to. I would keep using the pull-ups until your son is dry consistenly for a week and then try underwear. He may just be a heavy sleeper.

With all 4 of my kids, when diapers were gone they were gone....day and night.... I dont know if i just got lucky or if it was "right".... they were all trained before turning 2... We just did it.. I had a tad bit of trouble with my now 10 yr old at night time, but decreased liquid starting 3 hrs prior to bed time (and totally cut off at 1 1/2 hrs prior) We had about 2 weeks of some accidents then all was good....
good luck!!!!!!
