I have been trying to potty train my daughter. just wondering any suggestions for this first timer? I have been taking her the potty as often as i can, but she just sits there and plays with the toilet paper.

What can I do next?

I have been working with my 2 year old as well. I really do the same thing as you are doing. I take her and have her sit on the potty for maybe 5 minutes. I have books in there so she can read them. I also turn the sink on sometimes to a trickle and that seems to help sometimes. Another thing we do is I bought a reward chart and when she goes in the potty she gets a sticker. After 10 stickers she gets to pick out a prize. I went to the Dollar Tree and got a bunch of cheap toys and put in a big gift bag and she can pick out of the bag when her chart is full. She gets stickers for other things as well like helping me put dishes away or other good behavior. We have been having luck with everything but the pooping.

Good luck!

I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and an 8 year old son. They were both potty trained by the time they were 2 1/2. For my son we let him run around "free" for a few days. We also had him "practice" sinking cheerios in the toilet. Girls are obviously different. For our daughter...we bought panties with her favorite characters on them. We moved her potty chair into the living room. She ran around playing, but could always see her potty. When she felt the urge to go, it was right there - nice and convenient. She did not have to interrupt her activity long to "take care of business." The thing to remember is to not get frustrated. She will potty train when she is ready...which may not be when you are ready! Good luck!

Introduce her to the potty but don't push. She will do it when she's ready. I have 3 girls and not one of them potty trained when and how I wanted them to. They all did it when they were ready. Take her w/ you and tell her what you are doing. Ask if she wants to try. Stuff like that. Don't punish for accidents. Keep it fun. Make a BIG deal out of her actually going in the potty. We always did the pee pee dance. Sing and clap and dance around "you pee pee'd in the potty" Silly stuff like that. It always kept my girls really excited and made them feel proud of themselves.
Good luck and God bless

She may not be ready for potty training. I have a three year-old and I waited until she was around 2 1/2 to start. I decided to stay in doors for one day and put her on big girl panties. It only took a couple of tries, patience and pipi in the potty songs and she was ready to potty. Good luck.

Try turning the water on in the sink or the tub while she is sitting on the potty. :)
