Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome - Spanish Fork,UT

I just recently stumbled upon information about Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome. I had tubal ligation 4 years ago and the symptoms I have had since then all seem to fit from the information that I can find on the internet. I've had cysts, adult acne, weight gain, extreme mood swings, heavy, irregular periods, depression and more....

My doctor just recommended that I get Endometrial Ablation to help with the bleeding, but I don't think that will help with the emotional stuff. I would love to know if any other women have experienced symptoms of Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome. Some people seem to think it's "all in your head."

If you have suffered with Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome, what did you do about it? Did you have a hysterectomy? A reversal of the tubal ligation? Endometrial Ablation? Hormone therapy? I did try birth control pills for several months, but that didn't seem to help at all. Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

I had mine in November 09 when my 4th child was born. I've noticed since I stopped nursing and am finally getting "my" body back after all those years of birth control, pregnancy and nursing that my body is very different. I honestly don't think that it has anything to do with any type of "syndrome" to be honest. Think about it (I'm using my personal experience to base this hypothesis on, so bear with me)...I started hormonal bc when I was 16 years old. At age 20 I had my first child, whom I nursed for one year (exactly), then immediately went back on hormonal bc until becoming pregnant with my second child about 2.5 years later. I nursed her for about 5 months, then back onto the hormonal bc again. I stopped the bc when #2 was just over 3, and soon became pregnant with #3. I nursed her for nine months until I found out I was pregnant with #4 (Surprise!). I had my tubal when he was born via c section. I nursed him for about 10 months and then restarted my cycle. Since then, I've been extra moody during the typical "pms" time, my flow has been heavier and lasted longer (though I did have the ablation which did help with that aspect of everyhting), terrible acne and even a slight bout of PPD.

My point is that I haven't really known how my body works for nearly half of my life. I've been on synthetic hormones, pregnant or nursing for 15 years! Now that I'm not being affected by any of that stuff, my body is different...from what I'm use to. You (not you specifically, more in a general sense) have realize that your tubes have nothing to do with your hormone or your cycle. Their sole job is to transport the egg (fertilized or unfertilized) into the uterus. They have no hormones.

it's very real, and very life changing. I stumbled across the information because I had my tubes tied and then remarried and wanted another child. So my reasons for a reversal were two fold. I will say that I am a different person now, compared to when my tubes were tied, and a much happier person. (and I got my little man, he's 4.5 months old)

Get on the web sight for the Pope Paul the VI Institute. Either contact them or a doctor affiliated with them. They have delt with many women with this kind of issue. Thomas Hilgers, the main Doctor at the Institute, is world renown for his work in fertility care. He looks at the entire picture when it comes to fertility care.

I had all those symptoms before I had my tubal ligation. It is a hormonal issue. You are probably estrogen dominant as I was. I got off everything that was a potential problem like drinking cows milk eating beef etc... the farmers shoot their animals with estrogen because it makes them fat. They bring a higher price when selling. It also helps the cow produce more milk. Please do your do diligence on this one. I got on a wild yam cream to help my body produce more progesterone. Once I did that, I have felt my best. No more wild mood swings, no more awful periods. Just better

I don't know if this will help you, but I found this link. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. I wish doctors would disclose these possible complications before doing them. My doctor asked me time and time again if I wanted my tubes tied but I always said no because it didn't "feel" right. Then I researched it and found out about PTLS. I don't know about a cure. I have read numerous articles from women who had the procedure reversed in order to relieve themselves of the complications but unfortunately, the damage had already been done.

I don't know what Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome is.

I can tell you that I had the ablation done and my tubes tied at the same time. It worked for about 18 months - I ended up getting a hysterectomy...just this past February. I had some weight gain and mood swings - b

After I had the ablation done - i didn't have any periods - but one - which led to the hysterectomy. i've had major changes - i get cold now - didn't get cold in the past - i have trouble sleeping the night through - could be the hysterectomy - could be me. I don't know. I'm trying to work with it!!

GOOD LUCK!
