I had my baby almost 5 weeks ago (on nov 4th) and the first couple of weeks I was barely bleeding, I got exciting thinking how fast the bleeding will stop. But this week the flow increased when I thought it should've been decreasing or going away totally by now. I'm not bleeding a LOT, but more than before and the blood is either dark pink or brownish. Seems like more comes out with more movement. Is this still normal? This is my second child and I remember i bled for a while after the first but i can't rremember how long it's been 4.5 years. Anyone else had bleeding go from light to a bit heavier weeks after birth?

What can I do next?

Try to limit bending and lifting for a bit but doesn't sound like fresh bright red bleeding. It takes several weeks so maybe about one more week or so. By the 6 week exam I think the bleeding was gone or nearly gone.

Congratulations! I would say this is within normal, most providers give a 2-6 week range for bleeding to cease. As long as the bleeding is not bright red/heavy then it is still just postpartum flow and not concerning. It definitely will be heavier with increased activity. You should be having your 6 wk checkup soon, your provider will do an exam to be sure all is healed/healing properly. As long as it stays like this or gets lighter just keep the appointment that is already scheduled. If it gets very heavy or changes to bright red call/go in right away. I wish you the best.

That's what happened to me. I barely bled once I got home from the hospital and even had like a week of no blood at all and then I'd bleed. It was off and on like this for 8 weeks I think. They say as long as it's not bright red you don't need to be concerned. As you are recovering and feeling better remember you still need to not push yourself those first 6 weeks!!!

I bled for 9 weeks after my vag delivery. The color is important. It will get brown and a bit watery as it gets closer to stopping. Sounds like you are on the right track but if you have concerns you should not hesitate to call your doctor.

Same here! I feel like I had to wear pads until at least 10 weeks post partum. It eventually tapered off again. Everyone is different, some of us just get all the luck ;)

I did this a lot! I don't think I even started bleeding until after my 6 week check up. I mean, I didn't even need a pad after 3 days out of the hospital. I talked to my ob of course, and he said it was completely normal. My body was just being slow at getting rid of it all. I was done in a couple weeks after than. Of course call, but it is probably fine and normal.

My experience was different with my 2nd baby too. With my first I seem to remember it being a slow & moderately heavy process. With my second, it was one extreme to the other! One day I would hardly bleed at all, and the next day I would pass clumps so large it would make me call my OB in a panic, but it was always fine. If you are concerned, just call your OB, they've heard everything and it can put your mind at ease.
