When we purchased our home the previous owner had curtains and wall paper all over the place. they are a much older couple who never had children so everything WAS like new & spotless. When I first walked into the home I said to the hubby next! and he said this is it! We still have the curtains and I would not change them for anything, I have grown to love how they keep the heat in during the winter and the heat out durning the summer. they are the back in the day curtains that are very thick. I first thought that curtains were a thing of the past but now I feel like who cares! Do you or anyone you know have curtains?

What can I do next?

Yes, we have really nice drapes in two rooms, and a pretty valance in the kitchen. They are high quality and look great!
The rest of the windows are either bare or have cellular shades.

We have curtains in the bedrooms for this exact reason - and to keep the sun out! In the living room we have wood blinds with light curtains.

When I lived up north I always had curtains, I think the windows look bare without them. I am in the process of changing the window treatments here in FL. We have vertical blinds on all the windows and I can't stand them. I like blinds so I can close them at night and light curtains to add color.

We have Plantation Shutters and wood blinds. The house came with them and there are not only beautiful but expensive as well. In our old home we had curtians but I just can't bring myself to hang them here and cover the shutters. I did put valances in our son's room and the nursery.

Nope because I grew up with them and I just won't have them in my home. Okay I do have one but it isn't on that rod. I hate it, it will go but I got it cause the sun just blasts that door.

Drapes with sheers in the living room. Just a valance on the window and totally retro vertical blinds on the sliding door in the kitchen. Black out shades and curtains in one daughter's room and curtains in the other daughter's room (but we need to get shades). Blinds and a valance on my bedroom window (the blinds came with the house and we never changed them) and nothing on family room windows. We have blinds on the windows in our storage room that also came with the house. No windows in either bathroom. We really need to get drapes for our bedroom because it gets cold in there.

I have been in very few houses that didn't have some type of curtain or drape or blinds or shades...something on the windows.

Oy veh! Window treatments are such a touchy subject for me & we have a really annoying hodge-podge.

Living room-I took down the cream-colored sheers about 3 yrs ago because my son kept trying to wrap them around his neck (the same kid whose umbilical cord was around his neck in utero). Right now I just have some kinda ugly striped ones that, I didn't realize at the time, are SO not my style--actually, I didn't have any style when we bought them.

In the bedrooms we have blackout roller shades & have taken down the curtains that were in the bedrooms because my son was playing "Tarzan" with them. (facepalm)

Kitchen - no coverings at all right now - I had taken down this really ugly window casement with upholstered shutters, but I don't know what to put up in its place.

Family room - the only room of the house that I LOVE the window treatments--they are Roman shades that are in a pale blue/goldish stripes (think French country colors, but the blue is very soft.)

Exercise room - ugly pink cellular blinds. I hate the color, but they do the trick of privacy, light filtering & a bit of insulation.

Every window is at least dressed with curtains, some of my rooms have blinds and curtains especially if they face the front yard.

None of them were professionally done, i hung them and fit them. Home depot will cut blinds to fit your window and im a big fan of putting the rod and supports really high up and out to give the illusion of bigger/taller windows. This way i just get the biggest size curtains, lol, I usually get creative with the tiebacks, sometimes ill cut them off of something, or ill add old beaded necklaces to them. The ones in my daughters rooms have flowers sewn on.

Our last home, I had hung some curtains in the dining and family rooms. Those rooms had tons of windows facing west and got really warm in the summers. The curtains helped, but I really just liked the looks. They were newer styled, not what you are talking about.
In this home, we have cloth roman shades in the formal rooms (living and dining) and honeycomb topdown bottomup blinds everywhere else. My daughter's room faces west though, and she doesn't have any porch over her window (like the living/dining rooms do), so it was getting really warm in the afternoons. I bought some cheap Walmart insulated curtains (in purple/lavender) and hung them on a rod. It makes a HUGE difference in the comfort of her room when she pulls them closed. (She has a big double window).
oh.. and the blinds in our bedroom are blackout ones, b/c hubby works weird hours and sometimes needs it pitch black during the day.

Draperies in the living dining rooms and mostly blinds and valances everywhere else.

We have curtains in the bedrooms and on the sliding door in the living room (only because we did not want to pay the extra money for custom fit blinds on a rental since the window is not standard size). On the windows in the living roon we have blinds. I will eventually make curtains for the kitchen.

Plantation shutters and wood blinds. BUT we just had solar screens installed and P O W what a HUGE difference that made on the house. The screens made a difference in electricity savings and overall look of the house.
