I have had cavities that have been filled and have been sensitive for a year. If it's causing too much pain, go back and get it looked at!

Talk to your dentist. It's normal for some minor pain with a simple filling. Maybe tge one hurting was not so simple.

It takes a long time for my mouth to respond to the shots. My dr has to use 2 drugs to get me numb and I still start feeling it sooner than I should. A startling connection was made when I cut my foot and while getting stitches at er, I felt everything even with the shot. At that time, the dr's asked me if my mouth was hard to numb and said there is a connection for those who don't get numb easily. My dentist books me and extra 1/2 yr just to numb my mouth.

Lol... Bet my hubby would like to numb my mouth sometimes, lol

It could be the bite isn't right and if that's the case the doctor will have to adjust it. If the filling is up too high it will make the tooth sore. The only other thing I can think of is that it was a deep cavity with nerve exposed and if that's the case you will need a root canal. I would defiinitely go back to the doctor and have him/her check it. Good Luck. .

If they drilled to deep and exposed the nerve then you will have issues like this until it is fixed.

Plain and simple sweetie, Call Your Dentist. It could be a number of things, but only your dentist could tell you what it is. Hope you feel better soon.

Depending on where in your mouth the tooth is, the location of the shots may have caused more soreness than they might have otherwise.
Yes, having a filling installed can result in some residual sensitivity (both to heat and cold, or either one or the other). Typically, this will fade over a little time, and that amount of time can vary. If it is intolerable, contact your dentist. If it continues more than a few months, contact your dentist. I was told by my very trusted dentist once, that the more you "mess" with things, sometimes the more you irritate them and the best course of action can sometimes be to leave it alone for a short while. This was said to me when I thought I was looking at a root canal. That was over 10 years ago... and no root canal, and no further problems from shortly after that time.... (I'd had a loose filling that I'd had since I was a kid replaced).
So, yes, it can be normal, and yes, it could be something more. If you can wait it out a bit longer, it might resolve without anything further needing to be done. It just all depends... Sorry, but I don't think we can give you any definitive answers on this one. :(

Hmmmm...call you dentist.
I don't think a filling should "hurt' a week later.
It could be:
The filling needs filed lower (I had a high filling once and the pain was pretty bad).
There is nerve damage and the tooth should have had a root canal.
There is an infection under the filling.

Please call. This isn't something that will resolve itself, I don't think.
Good luck!
