IF there was a service that helped you to just simply remember to do things.
BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES, DR APPOINTMENTS, ETC.....
Would you be interested ? And how much would you consider paying on a monthly basis ?

I came across this site before...http://iwantsandy.com/

I've signed up for it, but haven't used it yet. So I can't tell you it's great just that it does all that and is free.

I have Birthday Alarm and that service is free and very easy and convinient so I would not pay for a service like this if it's free from another company.

Lots of free online sites that already offer that service. I use one, but I probably would not pay for it. Also, I could set my computer up to do the same thing for me.

Hello Dawn,

Being a business owner myself, it's wise for you to look into your resources and needs of your clients... There are so many technologies out there that allow busy mommies to remember important dates and duties... internet, cell phone and electronic calendars are something we all depend on. Hearing a real live voice? Nah.. Moms wouldn't think of paying for that if they already get it for free.
So, if I were you, I would offer something special... like "Mommy's helper"... pick-up the dry-cleaning, help organize the kitchen pantry, offer to take Tommy to soccer practice then piano. Menu planning, and grocery bill organizing is a plus! When Mom's have multiple kids, they need more help organizing their time and being in multiple places and have the house cleaned and dinner cooked all ideally before hubby comes home! Offer more of yourself than just calendar organizing. You can offer a once or twice a week service. Some Moms, might not mind if little one tags along.
I would start off for two hours a day/ 2 times a week. Maybe on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
See what you can do to expand that... a trial run would be good. Offer two hours of service, get two hours free sort of thing. Stick to clients in your city to save on gas. I would try your neighbors or someone you already know first.

4 kids? Maybe you can have your teenager watch kids while you perform services. It will show her that Mom can make money for herself and gain some adult time outside of the home. Add her to your budget.

A little at a time and word will get out. Try your church friends...

Best of luck to you! I wish you much success!!

I would organize Moms and help them "do it all"... If I could get that kind of help, I would pay the price of a weekly maid service.

Do you live close to me? I live in Rancho Cucamonga

There is a site called Thefamilypost.com that is a photo sharing service but they also have a GREAT calendar program that will remind you about birthdays, etc. Check it out--it is relatively cheap and provides a lot of great services.

Not a bad idea, but there would really have to be something extra to get people to pay, given the number of sites online that do this for free. Good luck!

There is already a bunch of software out on the market today designed to do just that, not to mention the good old note pad or calendar. How is your sysetm unique? Would you call people on the phone directly or send them e-mails? Also, people might be nervous to give out that kind of information to a third party. You may want to make sure that you have an iron-clad confidentiality agreement, etc...

Hi Dawn

I think there is already an online service that does this... you put all the dates in that you want to remember, and it emails you with enough notice to send a card/make a call/book an appointment/whatever,

hope this helps?

I already do this through a number of sources. I use Microsoft Outlook (email/calendar/address book), COZI (shared family calendar www.cozi.com ), and online resources like Blue Mountain to remind me to send a card. My friends use an online resource called Birthday Alarm. Since all of these resources are free or included in software that I already own, I would not be inclined to pay for a service like this unless there was something more unique and distinctive than a reminder service (i.e. a personal shopper service). That's just my 2 cents. I'm assuming that you're thinking of a business opportunity; it's great that you're doing informal market research to see if it's viable. Good luck and best wishes!

Hi Dawn -
My friends and I use the Yahoo Birthday reminder. Another friend uses www.birthdaytime.com. The free Yahoo Calendar syncs with most PDA's and can even be viewed on mobile phones. Good luck!

Hi Dawn,
I use an online birthday alarm service for this www.birthdayalarm.com.

It's free and I'm sent emails usually 2 weeks or so before the event (birthday, holiday, etc.). It would be great if a few gifts would then pop up and I could then click a button for a gift to be sent.
Hope this helps.

I too, wouldn't pay for a service like that. I have a trio (phone) that runs palm software and I type everything into it and sync it up to my computer at night. It's much more handy than an online service or even a personal service because it is with me all the time so I can type in my appointments on the spot. Birthdays and such I just type into the palm program on my computer and sync it up.

Honestly, I have to tell you, I wouldn't pay for a service like that. I can already do that with my computer calendar, and I know there is something online for free that can do that for me as well, if I really needed the back up.

That's what I have a hubby that can set appointments in my Blackburry for! Sorry- I know that probably doesn't help!

Even without my hubby, I likely wouldn't pay for it. I would co back to the onld "check book calendar" to keep track. (So I guess I'd pay about $1.08 a year... the cost of the calendar plus tax at Dollar Tree.)

Dawn,

Congratulations to you on finally becoming a stay-at-home Mommy! Isn't it wonderful? To answer your question. I personally wouldn't pay for a service like this simply because I organized my families lives using my Mac's ical. It does what you are offering as a service. Although, if I didn't have access to my home calendar system, I would think a system like yours would be very beneficial to others. I can't speak on how much I or others would be willing to pay. You might want to give more details about the service since there are a lot of 'free' services like this out there, what makes your different, better, etc. Good luck to you!

With my outlook and my phone calendar...I already have this. I wouldn't pay for something like this. And in my yahoo groups, I also get reminders of everything that's on the calendar if I want it.
There are plenty of resources like this that are free so I definitely wouldn't pay for it.

Hello DawnDawn_V !! I just wanted to say do not waste any money on a service like that. Outlook offers it for free, using a task manager and it is wonderful. I used it when I was working and had not only a calendar, but a reminder set up that reminded me of the entries. There are also other sites you can go to, and unfortunately, I can't think of the names right now, but I have one account (that I don't use anymore) and most are the same and are all good. Please please please don't waste your money, if you are considering it!!

I wouldn't pay since yahoo calendars does sends reminders for free. The downside of remembering events, it putting them into the calendar in the first place!

I think you have a good idea but not sure how you could do it. Aren't there already things that remind you on phones and other electronic devices or the good old calendar? One area to market something like this is retirement homes. My mom in her 80's lived in one. She had lots of appts. and I helped keep track for her but many people there didn't have family nearby to help them remember. Might be a place you could "mass" market your idea. I'm not sure how much you could charge. Good luck to you and I think you are great for staying home with your kids. I quit my job when my twins were about 7. They are 16 now and it has made a huge difference. I think people are mistaken to think kids just need you when they are little. It is worth the sacrifices!

Hi Dawn-
I wouldn't pay for a service like that, but would certainly use it. I use birthday alarm now and love that it sends me reminders of birthdays every week. If you are thinking about starting up a web based program....I would think you could make $$ off the advertising rather than the users. Good luck!

Hello,

There are so many services for free out there already - that I would not pay for such a service. If you use a computer or cell phone you can put such dates in the calender with a pop up reminder or an alarm.
