Hello all! I need your help! My dad and his wife want to take me and my daughter to Disney World but she will only be 2 1/2 years old by the time we go. Do you think that she will still have a good time being that young? Any advise??

My parents offered the same thing to us when my daughter was only 2 years old. I declined the offer at the time because I wanted to wait till she was old enough to remember the experience. She's 5 now, is totally in to the Disney Princesses and can't wait to meet them all this Fall!

I would NOT pass this up as you can see that most mom's would definitely take their child at that age.
I took my older son when he was about 20 months and he had a BLAST:)

Good Luck.
I hope you all will go, You and the baby REALLY deserve it especially after everything that ya'll have been through.

Hi! We just flew back from Orlando Friday. We took our 2.2 month old daughter and SHE HAD A BLAST! She had so much fun, I can not begin to describe it. My daughter is very quiet, very shy but she was running all over the place laughing out loud and just having fun. My husband and I had tears in our eyes when she first saw the full size Cars characters, she was frozen - just shocked and then started dancing with excitement. She hugged them and kissed them and talked to them. It was great.

This is the best trip I have ever taken, and I have been blessed to have traveled all over the world. My husband had never been either and we had fun just the two of us when my mom (who also came along) just took our daughter to some of the kids' rides.

Disney is built for kids of all ages. You will not regret this trip. Please email me if you'd like some information about what we all did.

***Oh the night parade*** Abby loved that too.

We took our son on his first WDW trip when he was just over 2. We had a GREAT time! Check out www.mousebuzz.com for some great info and travel tips. Most of us on there are families, so there's lots of great info on traveling with little ones. Check out Playhouse Disney at MGM, she'll love it. Take lots of pictures. If you can, have her interact with characters/mascots before you go, the "bigess" of them can be overwhelming. My son loved it though and kissed every character on the nose when he met them. Can you tell this is a passion of mine?! Feel free to e-mail and ask me anything, I'll share whatever I know and find out whatever I don't! ____@____.com

I am at Disney right now, I would be happy to give your more advice when I return next week. My son is 22 months and this is his 2nd time here. His first time here was when he was 10 months old. I highly recommend staying with just Magic Kingom, and Universal Island of Adventure (where there is Dr. Seuss land). I used to live in Fla so being here is awesome. We were orginally making this trip a 2nd time to visit with my grandma, but she passed last month so being here is kinda bittersweet - but we are making the best of it - we had preplanned this vacation many months ago. If its going to be a family thing - and you were going to make a family vacation of it regardless, I recommend coming down. However, it all depends how much you want to see - how much do you want to spend/are you making the trip for just your 2 1/2 year old -- I think honestly, my hubbie and Mom (who is here with us) are enjoying it just as much - and with my Mother here we get someone here to help with my son while we even get to do grown up stuff (ie. roller coaster etc). Last year when my son was 10 months old - he loved the kiddie rides at Magic Kingdom and the parade - and especially the picture opportunity with all the characters. Let me know what questions you have -- and reply to me here or at ____@____.com - when I come back I will be happy to help --My hubbie is telling me I need to get off the computer.....LOL! Plus, we have to be up early - we are making a day trip tomorrow to Kennedy Space Center to see the space shuttle (another great place to see). There are so many attractions in Orlando --acquarium etc. So, you are not limited to just Disneyworld -- their are tons of water parks too.....
Ok, I better run,

We leave for WDW in 39 (as my hunny keeps reminding me). We have found that the disney boards are great for ideas and suggestions....www.disboards.com. Go there, it's great. I was always told that the best age is 5 so that is what we are going for but I am sure there are things that your child would enjoy also. We have the best travel agent also that has helped us get some great things lined up for her. Hope it all works out!

I think that every child is different and you'll never know how she'll react if you don't take her. My daughter is 18 months old and if I had the opportunity to take her, I would! Don't miss this chance, you may never have the opportunity to go there again. And as young as you are, you'll have a blast too! And if anything, I bet she'll enjoy the night time parade - that was always my favorite!! :-)

We just got back from Disney World (our second time to go). Our kids are now 7 , 5, and 3. The first time we went my little girl was not quite 2 and she absolutely loved it. Especially some of the rides that are geared towards a younger audience - absolutely loved "It's a small world".

She didn't remember Disney World when we went last week, so it was a whole new world of excitment. Funny thing was that she loved the "it's a small world" ride again.

You will never know unless you take your child, and if you have the opportunity - jump on it! The chance may not come around again. Have fun!

My oldest was just 18 months when we went with my parents. He absolutely loved it. He doesn't remember that much now but we remember what a great and "magical" time he had. There are so many choices that you will find something perfect for your child. He was just amazed at everything plus he wasn't potty trained just yet so we didn't have to run to find a really long line to stand in for him to go every couple of hours. Not sure where you are on that just yet but it is really something I wouldn't miss out on if I had the chance again. Let us know if you decide to go.

My in-laws are trying to push the same thing, and our son is only 14 months (will be this summer).

I do NOT want to go, I think standing in lines in the hot sun all day would be terrible for him, plus we wouldn't be able to go on the rides we want and he won't be able to go on many rides either.

Why not take the child to the zoo or Six Flags or if you want a mini vacation, Sea World in San Antonio, and save the time and money when your little girl is old enough to appreciate it and have fun? She will have pretty much the same amount of fun anyways at more local and less expensive places.

My family and I just got back from Disney World in February. My daughter was 18 months and my son was 3. They both had a blast. Be sure to schedule at least 1 day of down time. We did not do that and by the time we got home it took almost 3 days for the kids to get caught up on missed sleep. We did have naps while we were there, but not a full day of rest. We know next time that we need at least 1 day where we just hang out at the resort, by the pool preferably!! I think your daughter would love it. She may not take to the characters too well, but it is worth a try. The characters are very patient with apprehensive kids. If you need any other tips, just let me know. I would love to talk with you!!

We took our daughter when she was 2 1/2 and she LOVED it! She still enjoys looking at all of the pictures and always asks when we are going back. (She is now 4 1/2)
I highly recommend the character meals....a great way to see the characters up close without having to wait in really long lines.

One other piece of advice, go at your daughter's pace. Don't stress about what you didn't get to see. Maybe pick a few must sees and then anything else will be a bonus. I say go for it, enjoy the opportunity, and the look on your daughter's face is something you will never forget!

No. I don't think she'll have fun. We went to Disneyworld with my two boys when they were 2 1/2 and 5. It was my son's 5th birthday and he was JUST old enough to have some fun. I only took them because I had a business meeting and I didn't want to miss my son's birthday. My younger son had a little bit of fun, but spent far more time terrified by the characters. I heard him screaming across one of the restaurants when we went for the character breakfast as Goofy had come TOO close. Tell your parents you appreciate the gesture, but would rather take a rain check.

I think it's a bit too young for the $$$$$, but check out www.allears.net for some great info. We just went at T'giving w/ our then barely 4 & 7 year olds. The 4 year old was right at 42"- the min. ht. for LOTS more rides, and it was a blast. She got to ride on tons more than we thought she would. I'd HIGHLY recommend the POP Century Resort & the Disney Dining Plan- it will save you bucks!! & you get great food, too!

Good Luck & ENJOY!

We just took our two girls this past Christmas and they had a blast. I thought they would be scared of the characters but they loved them. They has such a great time. I would definitely suggest that you go.
