M.K.
I have it!! I bought the MM's for another recipe I make at Christmas.
Here it is:
Giant Gingerbread Boy
1 bag M&M's, red/green
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
2 t. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
3 2/3 c. flour
1 t. pumpkin pie spice
1/4 t. salt
1 c. vanilla frosting
Large sauce pot
Parchment paper or foil
Paring knife
2 cookie sheet pans
Resealable plastic bag
Printable template
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a large saucepan, bring the sugar and molasses to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the baking soda. Add shortening to the mixture , stirring until melted. Stir in the egg; add the flour, spice, and salt.
3. Transfer to a work surface and knead the dough until smooth. Divide the dough in half, and roll it out on parchment paper or foil that's large enough to fit the printable template (go to brightideas.com/christmas/family/f_1471_1.jsp to print template) Using the template as a guide, cut out one 8" cookie with a paring knife. Remove the scraps, leaving the cookie behind. Transfer the cookie to a cookie sheet pan and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. Make a second cookie with the remaining dough and scraps. Repeat.
4. Spoon the frosting into a resealable plastic bag; snip a corner and pipe an outline on each cookie, or use the frosting to attach M&M's.
Makes 2 cookies.
Hope this helps!!
