Hi again moms..
I am requesting your wonderful advice yet again. I am 8 weeks pregnant and of course my skin is rebelling. I have been having breakout after breakout, and on my shoulders and upper back too! I am guessing it's a combo of the hormones and the fact that I am not on the pill at the moment. Anyway, doc says I am not allowed to use any cleansers with any type of acne-fighters as they can be harmful to fetuses. Is there anything out there that you know of that can help w/breakouts (facial and/or body) that don't have harmful chemicals in them? I am sick of looking like I am going thru puberty. ;)
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks so much!

You might consider supplements such as taking Zinc and B Complex. Zinc is great for the skin - I have always has problems and Zinc tends to keep it under control a little better. I take supplements daily, and did so throughout my pregnancy - I did not take a prenatal prescription, rather adjusted my usual supplements. I had a very healthy little girl - so no ill side affects from the B and Zinc that I was taking.

Try Cetaphill.. its in a blue/clear container or green/clear for oily skin. It is super gental and works wonders. I had the same problem when I was pregnant and also right after giving birth. Wash your face every night... maybe in the morning too till it clears. Give it a week and you will feel like the woman you are not the 14 year old girl going through puberty! Hope everything clears up soon!

My skin calmed down when I got into my 30's. What really helped me is a naturopathic dr. The skin is most likely responding to some imbalance in your system. If all systems are in synch, then your skins will most likely not be responding like it is. The treatments are healthy and are likely to be used even in pregnancy.

good luck!

Mary Kay Velocity cleanser and moisturizer are gentle cleanser with oil absorbing properties and an oil free oil absorbing moisturizer. They work wonders on teen age acne so I can't see why it would hurt to try. Plus they are super inexpensive. Call me if you'd like some samples of it. ###-###-####

I had horrible skin during my 1st trimester, and I found that Origins products were helpful. They are sold at most department stores--I buy mine at Macy's. You can let the counterperson know that you are prego, and they can recommend which products work best. Good luck and congrats!

Hey there!

It's hormones. They wreak havok on the body.

If you would like, we do have products that are safe to use.
We do have an oil that you could use! It would be perfect! It kills bacteria and is not harmful to the baby because it is natural!!! My kids use that on the BIG ones! LOL!

What kind of supplements are you on?
We do have prenatals that will ease the hormone levels and they are a 90% absorbtion rate into the body.
To learn more call or e-mail me.

I have been using their products for over 8 years and my family is loving them!

We do have the acne fighting stuff that you can put on when baby is born. My kids have the astringents, the Zap It stick that rolls on, the cleanser and the moisturizer. Only $15.99 for the set. Also sold seperately. My kids are 21 & 18. They love the stuff! I had such bad acne when I was young, so did their dad. But we don't anymore!

I had trouble with this as well, although I always have some skin issues... I saw my dermatologist and she gave me a couple of ointments to manage the breakouts. They are by prescrition only, but are safe during pregnancy. Maybe you can try that route?

Congratulations on the wedding!!! I had the same problem when I was pregnant with my son and the d\Dermatologist recommended PanOxyl soap (it's a bar soap) and Purpose facial lotion (comes with our without SPF). I have found both of there at Walgreens and CVS. She also gave me some prescriptions that were safe for me to use while pregnant and while breastfeeding. They were Finacea and Clindamiacin (sp?). A good friend had the same problem and used the soap and lotion and things got much better.

Good luck!
