Hello fellow moms,
I need help! There is a plethora of digital cameras out there and I need some opinions and recommendations. This past Saturday was my son's 1st birthday party and somehow, my 8MP 5Xo ptical zoom Kodak ended up on the floor and was broken! No zoom and no flash. Fortunetly I was able to upload all the photos without a problem. I liked that camera mostly for the zoom capibilities and the 8MPs for printing AND believe it or not, the fabulous videos it took! This camera uses SD memory cards and I have several. I say this because the camera that I choose to eventually replace it should use the same media card. (that being said, I know Sony cameras are out). I have found several great reviews of Canon's but I would like to hear from someone who has a camera that they love. Since this was my third Kodak that broke, I have decided against buying another Kodak. If you have a camera that you love, would you let me know which one you have and why you love it??? This would help me sooooooo much! Thanks in advance, J.

What can I do next?

J.--We have a Cannon Rebel XT and love it! It is not one that you can put in your purse, but it take absolutely wonderful pictures. There are many settings on it, my husbands favorite is the one that is for sports. It catches everything out 2 year old does, and then we just delete the ones we don't want.
We have had it for about 2.5 years and never had any issues with it.
The only down fall is its size, but it holds over 1000 pictures.

Good Luck and happy shopping.

Hi J.,

I agree with Judy about the Nikons. That's all I've used and they are great. You really can't go wrong with them, but I also like Canon and Fuji.

If you're a hands on person, you can see how they feel and how intuitive it is just stop by any electronics retailer to try them out. (Best Buy, Costco, Wolf, Ritz etc.)

I was also going to paste a link to Amazon, but I can't in this little box, so if you want to e-mail me I'll send you the link to the ones I think would be perfect for Moms. ____@____.com

It's especially helpful that there's a lot of feedback on Amazon from the people who own the type of camera you're looking for and they give you feedback, both good and bad.

I am assuming you mean the point and click cameras....
I LOVE the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. I have dropped it several time and its still working LOL. It has a 10x zoom, video with sound capabilities, very user friendly, takes great pictures...all Panasonic Lumix's have the image stabilizing feature...you can skydive and bungy jump with this thing and the picture is still clear...yep I have tested that!

I broke a few Kodaks myself & currently have this one:

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7S

I like it alot - check it out. It just feels more substantial than my old Kodaks. No veiwfinder took a little getting used to, but the 6x zoom is awesome and in addition to using SD memory, it takes AA batteries (photo AAs work the best, you can also get rechargables, but I like that regular ones would work in a pinch, maybe for only a few pics or so, but great if you forgot them on Christmas morning!) Has an image stabalizer and takes fantastic movies w/a 1GB memory card.

Good luck!

Hi J.!

I'm a big fan of Nikon digital cameras. There are several models, so you'd have to do a bit of research to find one that's best for you. I'm on my fourth Nikon. I love the quality of the pictures and the ease of use. I currently have the Coolpix s50. It is a small, slim camera. I like smaller ones so I can fit it into my purse or jacket. Good luck with your search!
