Hello ladies!

You guys are always a wealth of information so here it goes: Any trick to getting dog hair up off the carpet? I have very short wool carpet and the dog hair just sticks to it like glue!!! The vacuum does NOTHING. The only thing I have found that works is to rub it with the bottom of my shoes into a pile but that takes for FOREVER and it is EVERYWHERE!

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
K.

I can not recommend highly enough flylady's Rubba Sweepa (or Rubba Scrubba, if you want to do it by hand). It's a rubber brush broom, that picks up animal hair from every type of carpet I've tried it on - and I have a couple that hold onto that hair like nothing else.

Good luck!

Try getting some pet carpet cleaning powder. You sprinkle it on your carpet, wait 15 minutes and then vacuum it up. This should break the static that makes the hair cling to your carpet. You may also need a stronger vacuum.

I have 3 dogs - hair gets everywhere! We have hardwood floors & it shows more (collects in corners) than on any carpet.
We have a "Sweepa" [As seen on TV] it's a squeegee looking sweeper that has rubber nubs on one side - this grabs the hair - like your shoes do!

Pledge has something new out for animal hair, I can't remember what exactly it is but my sister in law was just telling me how great it works and she found it at Walmart for 3-5 dollars.

Check out the flylady's website. I think it is flylady.org, but you can google her. She sells a rubba scrubba and a rubba sweepa; they are big hits for pet hair.

Do you have a good vacuum? I can't recommend highly enough the Dyson Animal (the purple one). I think it picks up pet hair better than anything. I don't think I'd ever own another brand of vacuum again. It is a little pricey, but I got mine at BestBuy.com with a $100 off rebate, so it's normally a $500 vacuum, but I got mine for $386.

I actually consider a vacuum of this quality a necessity.

I have a Dyson - and it works wonders on dog hair. It is expensive, but totally worth it. I bought two new vacuums in a year trying to find one the picked up dog hair - After several recommendations, I finally gave up and bought the Dyson... It is fantastic...
