My Dr. asked me for my second child how many people were coming. He had told me he had just delivered a child to a room filled with her whole family. 12- 15 people. There were cousins, brothers, sisters, moms, dads, grandparents and kids. Also they were taping the birth too. Sounded more like she had her own cheering section. My brother and sister in law had 3 people helping her. Her mom, sister and my brother.

With my first, the hospital told me that I was only allowed two, but then whispered "But if you need an extra we won't deny you", I had my baby in Ohio. I had three people in the room with me. (That wasn't actually my choice, but that is another story all together! HA!HA!HA!) The best thing you can do is ask them. Have you done the tour of labor and delivery yet? If you haven't, that is usually a good time to ask if they will allow the third person.

Congrats! Just ask what the hospital's rules are. I don't think 3 is too many, but they'll have their own rules based on what is safe, etc. Good luck!

You should check with the hospital and/or your doctor. When my daughter was born, my husband, my mom and my sister were all in the room (along with various doctors, nurses, etc). Congrats!

i was allowed two at a time. my husband and my doula were there with me the whole time and i had an absolute ANGEL for my labor nurse, even though we had never met she was my surrogate mom the entire time. he's 11.5 and still as perfect as the day he was born. you need the support of however many people you need. there is no one right solution for everyone. i agree....deep breaths. all will be well. :-) S.

It takes a village to raise a child!! so what's wrong with three? I don't live there, but just call the maternity ward and ask them. Deep breaths, deep breaths.
