Hi moms, i'm looking to buy a play rug for a play room i'm trying to create for my son. I've seen the ones they have at walmart and target with the train theme on it but those rugs are too small. I'm looking for something bigger I just don't know where. I've looked everywhere and every store has the same size. Where can i have a big play rug , daycare type of rug. thanks

What can I do next?

Bed, Bath, and Beyond? Every time I go in there they have a sale on the rugs.

Ask a local daycare where they get their rugs if you can

Ooooh, I do love some IKEA stuff. Wish they had one closer, but maybe it's best that it's not.

If you are looking for something similar to one at a daycare or preschool you should try en educational store. One that has multiple locations in California is lakeshore learning. There is even one in San Diego! The downside is that purchasing from an educational supply store is that it will be pricey. You could also get those foam mats that link together like puzzle pieces, which might be more economical and you could make it whatever size you want. They are the same kind that go in home gyms or garages, but you can get hem specifically for kids spaces in primary colors and can get them through Home Depot.

Just get one of those, low pile commercial grade area rugs, in a synthetic fiber.
Home Depot, has all kinds.
It does not have to have kiddie graphics on it. Because they will grow out of it in no time.

Just get an area rug that is big enough for your space, and then just accessorize the room. With kiddie things.

Or, sometimes you can get remnant rugs.... from Carpet specialty stores.
Carpet specialty stores, have kiddie area rugs, too, depending on your price range.

My sister runs a daycare center and they get most of their rugs from IKEA. Check their website to see what they have before you head out there.

Search online for exactly what you want "daycare rug". Places like Great Mats (www.greatmats.com) carry large ones and you don't have to work in a school to buy from them.

I'd check Ebay first, then check out School Outfitters. That's where we ordered from when I taught.

I use the playmat from Costco in our playroom. It's not a rug but instead a thick mat that you can wipe clean. It's $100 but so worth the money. I think it's $120 (no shipping cost) if you buy it online.

try Kohl's or JC Penny. If not in the store try their websites (Target or K-Mart too). Often they will have merchandise on-line they don't carry in the store.

We have a large foam playmat in our playroom. It looks like a huge puzzle (that you can take apart) with letters and numbers on it. I bought it at www.onestepahead.com. The kids love it!

Babies R Us has a big mat that has the alphabet on it and numbers. It is a big foam mat that you can wipe down and take apart. It is also easy to help start learning numbers and the alphabet. It's a fun mat that you can move anywhere. The part I like is that you can wipe it clean.
