I am looking to get a wagon for my 1 year old daughter for Christmas. My husband and I do plan to have more kids, so I'd prefer to get one that would accommodate more than one child at a time. I guess my goal is to use the wagon for walks, trips to the zoo etc... plus something that is good for kids to play with. Does anyone have any advice/experience?

In addition to my wagon question, does anyone have any good 1yr old Christmas gift ideas??
Thanks for your help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

After what everyone said, which I thank you for your responses, and the reviews I read at Amazon and Target, I ordered a plastic wagon. I found it on sale at Amazon.com and it was free shipping. I can't wait to get it! I think this present is more for me than my daughter. Thanks again for your responses.

We received one of each for Bday #1 and I absolutely love the plastic, two seater radio flyer - it has seatbelts and cup holders! Ours doesn't have a canopy but I've seen them. Is your daughter walking? My son is obsessed with pretend phones, his push lawn mower & push Fisher Price popcorn popper (about $5 from Wal Mart), Melissa & Doug chunky puzzles, ride on toys and anything that makes loads of noise! One fun thing about one year olds, they're easy to please :)

Dont get a metal one. It will rust if you leave it out, ours did. Never had a plastic one but I see them around a lot, and according to what the other ladies said, sounds like they are great!!

Plastic. they don't rust or rot out.
Edited: One more thing to add we have a plastic wagon by step 2 and it holds my 60lb. 7 yr old, 30 lb. nephew and my 24 lb 18month old so they seem to hold a lot of weight good to load up for day trips to the zoo and such. Wooden puzzles are great for gifts for 1 yr old.

Get an indestructible plastic one that is nice and big for multiple kids to ride and for lots of stuff, so you can take it to places, load it up, and haul a bunch of things easily. We had a metal wagon, it was outside, since we had no other place for it....needless to say, it rusted. Also, is was soooo heavy that we couldn't throw it in the back of the car/van very easily either. I was always so jealous of the folks with the nice wide, heavy plastic ones (with the little dorr in the back so you didn't have your kid climbing over the top of it) that would swivel around so simply, quietly and easily through crowds etc. Ours rattled (even before the rust came), was HEAVY, and didn't have the nice tall sides that the plastic ones had. I was always losing stuff out of the back and was always fearful my daughter would fall asleep and would tumble out of it. It was a beautiful radio flyer wagon, and it was the really large sized one, but it was a nightmare to really use. It ended up being my child's for her to load up with rocks, dirt, bugs, etc.

Almost forgot! You wanted gift ideas, too...
I think my daughter had more fun with a simple cuddle-soft baby doll. It was small for her hands and she took it everywhere. It is called a "DIMPLE DOLL"...the catalog Hearthsong has them as well as toy stores (not walmart or department stores). I found a like for you to try its:
