Planters Wart

I have had a planters wart for about 3-4 years now on the ball of my foot below my second toe. Before it was always a little bothersome, but nothing to extreme. I have tried the planter wart removers... every kind I can get my hands on, longer than I was suppose to and it doesn't even touch it.

Now its to the point that the callus around it is bigger than a nickle/ smaller than a quarter around and sticks out abut a 1/4 inch. I soak it monthly and cut the callus down flat with a razor scrapper. Normally that takes the pressure off of it and makes it more comfortable for awhile.

Now its so painful ( the last 6mo) to even put pressure on it while walking or standing even after its flat, my back has been hurting and I know its because I walk on the side of my foot to avoid it.

We haven't had insurance before that's why I havent had a Dr take care of it Now my hubby has a job that offers insurance but we still have 60 days to go before its in affect.

Is there anything you have done.. that hasn't needed a Dr to get rid of one that actually works to get rid of one.... or at least take some of the daily pain away?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all.
Until I can get to the Dr I will try the duct tape. Hopefully it will help some.

Thank you Dawi for correcting me, lol

apple cider vinegar and duct tape. it'll take a while....and you want the really sticky, cheap duct tape.

use a cotton ball (the one time I don't use rags..I don't want to transfer this virus to anything!!!) to wipe apple cider vinegar on it. let it air dry most of the way (my daughter was pretty impatient, so it was only a minute or so), enough that duct tape will stick and then cover with duct tape - a big enough piece that it covers it and stays on. repeat daily for 4-6 weeks.

it it's really big, it may take freezing by the doctor (i've never gotten those home kits to work) and then followed up w/ the duct tape routine.

HI!
I just had surgery on my lovely "soft tissue mass", sounds better than a plantars wart, last Friday! Let me tell you, the sucker was there for a couple of years and I tried the creams the podiatrist gave me and acid to try to wear it down.. did not work.. 9 stitches later and hobling around for a week and it is gone now hopefully.. however the reoccurance rate is 10%... grumble... So I wish you luck but I had tried everything before I decided to have them slice and dice.

Our daughter has broken her ankle 4 times in the last year and just about a week ago she got her cast off and her planters wart had grown really large...the cast nurse said that her son had one and the dr had told her to use duct tape. She swears by it now. She said just replace the small square of tape each day and make sure it is slightly bigger than the wart. I haven't yet tried this on my daughter. Hers is large and it was already froze, but came back bigger than before. Good luck. It couldn't hurt to try!

I used Dr Shoals (not sure if its spelled that way). The Planter Wart patches. It helped ONLY till I was able to get it taken off by a doctor. Mine was on the arch of my foot towards the middle of it. Like you I lived for years with it, then suddenly it grew and got severely painful.

I used to have a couple of those; after a while they felt like pebbles in my shoe. For one, I used a pumice stone to file it down, then used the OTC freeze treatment for a couple weeks. After that it was gone.

On the other one, I cut out a small piece of duct tape and taped it right to the wart (make sure the skin is really dry). Change the tape every few days.

Planters Warts have roots that go into your foot and are very hard to get rid of. One of that size will have to be removed by a doctor. Have you thought of a free clinic?

I've had a planters wart in the same spot from 40 years. At first I had it removed several times by a podiatrist. It's still there but no longer bothers me. It's like it's given up growing after several "assaults." lol

I was told that the reason for the wart was the irritation caused by bones not being adequately supported by ligaments. Another symptom of this is when the second toe is longer than the big tow. It's called Morton's Syndrome. I had flat arches. I exercised and wore arch supports for several years so that I now have arches. I'm guessing that's why the wart has stayed small.

You could try arch supports and see if that takes the pressure off of that spot and thus reduce the wart.

When you do see a doctor, go to a podiatrist. They specialize in feet.

I've also heard of taping a piece of banana skin, inside against your skin, as removing warts. I've not tried it or known of anyone else who has.

One thing that helped mine go away, that I totally wouldn't have expected, was the automatic shower cleaner spray. Before that I had spent 5 years using the different patches and home freezing kit and nothing worked. Then it suddenly got better, and having a really clean shower was the only thing I remembered doing differently.

It is actually called a Plantar wart (tee hee don't stone me)-named after the plantar location of the foot. My hubby had one and the it only went away with surgery. No biggie was at the dr's office. He did have to pack it for a few weeks as it does leave a crater and he had to take a few days off that foot. That was about 8 years ago and it has not come back.

My son had a pretty big one on his thumb and he was having problems writing so he took silicone and covered about once a week for a month. It suffocated it and it eventually turned black and fell off. He is older now and when he gets on he gets his pocket knife and cuts it out roots and all. Kinda gross!!
