First off, changed my name due to the facebook stuff.
Tore Planter tendon in my foot pretty bad playing soccer a month ago. I play soccer 4-5 times a week and have played all of my life and dealt with many injuries, but this one is new to me. I've been in a walking cast this whole time and am going CRAZY! Any tips on stretching or anything I can do to heal this up and get back on the field??? Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

You are both right. Had a MRI the day after and was on crutches for a good week until the boot. Not a complete tear, but major tear. Beyond the scope of the normal planter pain. Just dying to back on the pitch and wishing for a miracle. : ) Thanks for taking the time to respond. Guess I'm gonna have to just suck it up for a bit longer.

Oohhh... I don't think I would be doing any stretches until you get the okay from your doctor. Not with a tear. If you just pulled it or strained it... then yeah, ok. But with a tear and you are in a boot? I'd get the go-ahead from the doctor before I did any stretching. You don't want to do any additional damage while the tear is healing.

Technically, Plantar Fasciitis is little small tears.... but they don't put you in a walking cast for that, normally. Sounds like you have a more severe injury, a completely torn ligament... If I am wrong, there ARE stretches and things you can do to help with plantar fasciitis. But tearing the tendon is not "just" plantar fasciitis and I would be very cautious about doing anything your doctor hasn't suggested or approved.

But I don't know why you couldn't ice it to help with any pain...

You really have to let yourself heal up and it's going to take awhile.
Stretching your other muscles are fine.

I worked with someone who enjoyed playing soccer on the weekends (he was in his late 30's at the time) with the local 20 somethings.
His calf muscle separated on the field.
Half of it bunched up under his knee while the other half went down near his ankle and his leg/foot was just hanging there while the ambulance took him away.
It was not trivial to weave his muscle back together and the recovery was many many months in crutches, a boot and then extensive physical therapy.
His soccer days were over and he took up golf after that.

Your injury is different, but if your muscles/tendons are tearing - take the time for it to heal up before something gives that will be much much harder for you to recover from.

There's a lot of great new research on nutritional solutions for inflammation and healing. I have a good friend who had horrible plantar fasciitis - she did much better than I did with a fascia tear before I knew about what she did. I can tell you it doesn't pay to do anything athletic before you really heal, but there are things you can do to speed that up. Let me know if you want more info.

Cali,
You do not have a simple case of Plantar Fasciitis. You tore your ligament. The treatments are very different in the beginning.

Please read up on what you have. Get a correct diagnosis and speak with a physical therapist, so that you don't cause further injury to yourself...
