Hi am helping my sister in law plan a baby shower for a friend of hers, we know she wants to have men and women present with a mexican menu. And it's a BOY. There will also be children. We will play the traditional shower games. From what I understand this was an unplanned pregnancy and she is basically starting over. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

What can I do next?

There have been a lot of great responses already!

A game that you could play that's great for everybody is to have a blank "bingo" looking card for all the guests (As many rows as you would like to have nothing specific) Have the guests write down in each block what they think the mommy to be is going to be getting getting for gifts and as she opens the gifts they mark off the square. The first person to get a line wins a prize (have a few runner up prizes as well) here's a link to a sample card!

Hope this helps!

I love the baby bottle game(as the first post suggested). That being said, I think that getting a book(journal) and having everyone put words of wisdom and advice for a mom of 5 children. I love the game guess how big around the mom to be is....This game should only be played if the mother to be is comfortable with playing it. Each person cuts a lenth of string guess if it will be exactly the measurement of the mom to be. Who ever wins gets the prize.
What month is the baby shower?
If you are asking about gits....I suggest Dr. Browns bottles, fruit mesh, bibs, onsies, diaper bag with the nessaities(sp),
booties, highchair, swing, car seat stage 2 for when the baby outgrows the infant car seat, blankets, gripe water (colic), slippers for mom. I could go on and on. I usually buy for the mom to be, not the baby. I buy slippers, bathrobe, shower gels, lotions, books, journals, thank you cards, a case of bottled water, trail mix, mother milk tea(lactaition), and all kinds of lovely things. Good luck.

My cousins threw me the best baby shower! I told them what I wanted and did have something to do with planning, but they took care ofthe rest. I had about 100 people there, men, women, family, kids, coworkers. My mom is from the philippines and my dad is form el salvador and my fiancee is from el salvador. We had asian food, spanish food, mexican food, and american food. It pleased everybody. I know its winter time, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to have a grill out. Dont forget fruits for the kids. Oh and we also had a keg and minibar (not that I consumed any of it!) but it was a nice addition for so many people. Games can get kind of overwhelming with so many people but its fun when the men join in too.

Mexican Fiesta
contributed by Ericka Edwards

My friend was having her third baby so we wanted to do something different than her other showers.

We bought a pinata and filled it with little gifts for baby and Mom, like a rattle, pacifiers, teethers, a scented votive candle, an individual foot spa treatment, and some other small inexpensive luxuries for Mom. DON'T FORGET, THE MOM-TO-BE NEEDS SOME ATTENTION TOO! :)

So we blindfolded her and let her whack that thing until it broke! She said it felt liberating to be able to get out all her pregnancy stress on the pinata!

We also had an assortment of Mexian food and drinks. We had chili served in bread bowls, tortilla chips, mexican dips, Margaritas and Mexican coffee (of course Mom-to-be had virgins!)

It was a must for her to wear a sombrero the whole time and we had Mexican music playing so it felt like a real fiesta!

Good Luck and Best Wishes to the Mommy & Daddy!

Hey, maybe the men will do the Mexican hat dance!

The basics, gifts would include, sleepers, diapers, baby gates, swing, high chair, diaper bag.

As for games, do fun activites for the kids too. Have the men suck down beer/soda/juice from baby bottles. Fastest wins
Have kids were sombero's (sp?) and do a mexican juming bean race (modified potatoe sack race).

Woops babies are always a blessing

I have a great game. We had so much fun with it. Buy some generic diapers, and 6-10 different kind of candy bars. Put a bar in each diaper and melt in microwave. Pass around and make them guess what kind of candy. No hints, but yes, they may taste! Also, hold a paper plate on top of their heads and draw a picture of what they think the baby is going to look like. Then collect and hand to the mom to pick the best! Have fun! W. Another game is scramble all baby equipment words...diaper, stroller, bassinet etc.

you should check out the color me mine website it is in the craft section of local business reviews you make your own Pottery. you can get a serving plate or something and they will give you these pens to write something on it good wishes for her and the baby and then after the party she takes it home and puts it in her oven for 30 mins and it is set and she can have something not everyone has. I hope this helps and good luck.http://www.colormemineonline.com

Hi N.!
You have some great responses! I have only been to one baby shower where men were included. It was a small shower and everyone knew everyone so the men put together a "Daddy" gift bag where each dad contributed something he thought the new daddy would need. I'll never forget how funny it was when the new daddy pulled out a set of ear plugs! So, all though it is usually the mommy who gets the gifts, don't forget to include dad in the gift opening. Maybe have a special chair for him to sit in also with Daddy balloons attached.
One shower I was at we played this game where you would purchase about 8 different jars of babyfood (1st stage). With a marker, number each jar on the lid. Make a list of your different foods and the coordinating number jar it belonged to. Then carefully peel off the labels and have your guests try to guess what food is in each jar. Then, of course, after you put the labels back on, the mommy has a stash of baby food for the near future.
Hope this helps!

P.S. I noticed the age range with your children. I have a 16 yr old, 14 yr old, 3 yr old, and 21 mo old!! Wouldn't mind sharing some stories with you!

With both of my babyshowers i had both the men and women at the party. We really made it fun by making games that the men could play too. They loved the game where you take 5 or so dipers and put differnt kinds of candybars in them and melt them. See if they can guess the different kinds. We used peanut butter cups, almond joys, kisses, white chocolate, and mint chocolate. It was so funny watching the men guess. good luck and have fun. Dont forget that you need to have prizes for the men if they win.
