Hi Moms, I'm looking for suggestions as to where I should have my 2yr old birthday party. My son goes to gymboree but their eating area is very small so I'm looking for a similar place and can house 15-20 kids with parents. My house is not an option since his first birthday lasted all day and the clean up was ridiculous. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks you.

What can I do next?

We had my son's 3rd birthday party at The Little Gym (Roseville and Folsom) and attended a couple of 2 year old parties there, too. They do a great job of organizing and leading activities for the age of the K. attending. I thought their price was really reasonable for what they do, too.

I don't really have any ideas on where to have it...but it may be less stressful if you only have a 2 hour party with fewer kids. I like to follow the party rule that says the number of kids attending be the same as the age of the child (2yr old has 2 kids there, 8 yr old has 8 kids) I realize sometimes with cousins and neighbors it's impossible, but 15-20 kids seems overwhelming no matter where you have the party. Are they all toddlers? Good luck!

2 years old = easy answer. The party needs to be a home with a third of the guests you're planning on. The rule is the number of kids should equal the age. You can narrow it down with only closest friends, or only cousins, or whatever. 15-20 kids plus parents, you're talking 45 people at a 2 year olds party that he will never remember! Don't put yourself through that. You can make a small party very special with a little creativity!

Plan two hours (max) for a 2 yo b-day party.

Keep it as simple as possible. Do you have Giggles & Grins near you or something like that where they host parties? I do hate Chuck E. Cheese b/c it's a GERM fest! lol

Hi Tiffany!
So I am assuming that you have thought of parks and Chuckee
Cheese type places already? Sometimes (depending on the weather of course,) you can call ahead and rent out a covered area for your own private space at a park and rent a jump house to set up nearby etc... Two year olds are pretty easy. Even a place like McDonalds with a a play area may have a party package. (I know bowling alleys have party packages for the older kids) Are you looking for something out of the norm? Or just ideas? You just have to remember that two year olds have an attention time span of about two hours so you will need to sqeeze in food, present opening and whatever games and entertainment you want to include before they start getting cranky. Have a theme... party bags already with their names on them to hand out at the "end' (not durning or you will have a mess on your hands and also giving them at the end is a trick and a gift for the mom having to drag a crying kid away to help pacify their crying kid!!!!) ;) AND what ever you do!!! Don't allow a mom to just drop their kidlet off at that age! (you think ahh just one.. there will be a lot of other moms there, I can handle watching one extra kid! If a mom can't be there... then the kid can't be there! You will thank me later for that advice! At least until they reach at least 5 when you are hosting any party... you can't be a babysitter too! Believe me I perfected parties over the years! Wait till the slumber parties begin!!!!

If he likes gymboree then I say go for it and have everyone meet before or after for a snack and cake near by like a park. or invite less people to make it workable for the party room. Or send a cupcake with them out the door after the party and open presants at home with the family. Gymboree is perfect for this age.

Wacky Tacky in Roseville is perfect for that age group! They have a big indoor climbing structure that's really safe for little kids. The facility is big enough for a large group and they do an excellent job with birthday parties. We've had a couple of parties there in recent years.

Do you have Pump it Up in Cali? Kids LOVE it!! A bit expensive if you ask me-especially for a 2 year old, BUT if you're going to have that many people, they really do a GREAT job for parties. No mess and you are in and out in 2 hours.
