THis is really weird but why do I get yellowish pit stains in my white t-shirts? I can wear a shirt twice and they already start to look yellow! Any ideas on brands of deoderant or something to helP?

What can I do next?

My teenage daughter also has the pit stains, I bought her clinical strength deodorant. There are several brands and it's available all over. CVS, Target, Meijers.

I concur with switching to deodorant only. Once I switched to the sprayable crystal brand my shirts were clean and I actually started sweating less. I use to use the clinical strength brands and I thought I sweated more.

I got mine at a health food store.

Because antipersperant makes the yellow with your body oil. Stop using deordarant with antipersperant.

It is caused from the heavy metal aluminum that is in most deodorant/anti-persperants. When you use natural deodorants you won't get this. I don't use them because they are heavy metals and leach into your lymph nodes under your armpits. One of the reasons why breast cancer is so prevalent nowadays. Do some research on it. It's scary.

I read a response to your yellow question regarding deodorant. Please listen. I've had several enlarged lymph nodes already removed at my left axillary area. (under neath left arm pitt to the left of my left breast). They cause a lot of pain. I use "Crystal". (all natural) It's in a purpley/clear round container. I found it at Meijers. Body deodorant stick. You just wet it a little a rub. Works better than deodorant!! I was very sceptical one of my best friends turned me onto it. Regarding the yellow- use distilled vinegar in your wash, also if you like bleach use bleach in a cold water wash. I know it sounds crazy but i only use bleach in cold water wash now. Everything is brighter. Good luck, D.

Try applying oxyclean to the stain and let it soak for an hour. It works for me...

I am not sure how to get the stains out other than maybe bleach. I think the stains occur when perspiration is allowed to dry on the clothing. It might help to wash immediatly after wearing instead of thowing them into a hamper. There are also dress shields you can buy that stick to the inside of the shirt to prevent contact with the perspiration.

KH; this is usualy there from the water and the detergent you use, sometimes there is stuff in our deodorant that makes the iron in waters stick to it, it is clean its just unappealing, you can try many things and yet stll not find how or what is making it, there is too many combinations of things, when you are done wearing them throw them away and get yourself some new ones, or you can try to bleach them in hot water, in all white wash, but this may not take it out either, i know too i would get this around the collar of my boys, somehow their cologne would attract the rust in our water, so hang in there, and id ont know if soft waster would help , it may ,not tried it, best bet , throw it away and get new, is easiest and quickest way to get rid of them, hahahaha when you get your new ones try to only wash in a bleach hot water wash, see if that keeps it at bay for a while, either way have a wonderful day D. s

I found that once I switched to "deodorant" and not "anti-perspirant" I no longer had the stains. Look for products that don't contain aluminum. I use LUSH brand deodorant. I have also used Jason brand, too. Generally, any product sold at Whole Foods, if you have one in your area. On a side note, though, deodorants don't stop you from sweating... so it takes an adjustment to get used to it.

I think those stains come from the part of deodorant that is anti-perspirant. I don't know of anything that would get them out short of bleach, but that will only be safe if the shirts are 100% cotton. Bleach yellows white fabric that has any polyester in it.

The yellow stains are caused by a reaction between the chemicals in the deodorant/antiperspirant and your sweat. My husband and I both had problems with this until we switched to natural deodorants. He uses the Trader Joe's brand and I prefer the Tom's of Maine. Both can be purchased at Trader Joe's. The Tom's can be found in lots of stores, but can be sorta expensive elsewhere. The only other place that I usually buy it where the price is more reasonable is Bed, Bath and Beyond. There is an apricot scent that I really like or I use the unscented. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure how true this is, but I've always heard that you should put your deodorant on and let it dry before getting dressed to prevent the yellow stains.
