I am wanting to take my son some place different for his 2 year pictures. Does anyone have any info on Picture People? I checked their website, but it is pretty basic. Do they have packages or just single sheets? Are they good with kids who can't sit still? I do not want to spend a fortune but have been to Kiddie Kandids, Portrait Innovations, JCPenneys, and Sears. I just wanted something different. Thanks.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank for all your input. I ended up going to Penneys and the pics came out pretty good, considering my son wouldn't stay still. She did a great job and managed to get some cute ones. I even did some with both of the kids, so pics are done for the year! Until the third one comes...

They have packages and single sheets. They printed out the pictures within an hour and you can take it home right away. They are not big on backgrounds, they just focus on the child. Sometimes they use props for different occasions (birthday box, valentine's heart, christmas tree, etc). They usually pretty good with moving children. I think sometimes their best shot is the candid one while the children just be themselves and being silly :)
Without coupons and membership it can be pricey though. But last time I went there, I just spend $36 for 5 sheets (8x10 or 10x13). So not too bad.

I have been to the picture people and I think they are "ok". With my experiences, the studios are always hot and crowded. I also think they are on the expensive side. Also, they have cute props, but boring backdrops.
Honestly, the best pictures that I've had taken of my boys came from Walmart (GoPortraits.com). The backrounds look really cheesy in person, but my pictures have always turned out great. Very affordable too! I have always gone to the Orland Park location. You need to make an appointment, but I've never had to wait. Good luck!

I see you are in Orland. The Olan Mills in the Kmart in Tinley Park is really good. There is a young girl (I think her name is Amy) who is great. Connor's one year pictures turned out fabulous and she was really good with keeping him engaged in the process.

I used the Picture People a couple years ago. First of all they do great pics and are very patient with wiggly children. I found them to be really really expensive. They have packages and sell single sheets but the single sheets are so much it is cheaper to buy packages. My suggestion is Protrait Innovations. I'm not sure where you live but I went to the one in Orland and they were great. Their main deal is a HUGE package for 9.95 and then it goes up from them. They took 188 pics of my daughter and after narrowing it down to 3 poses that I really liked I walked out of there spending less than $40. You get the pics in about one hour and they were really high quality. Check their website to check locations, I highly recommend them.

Hi,

Picture People are not usually very creative - you have to prompt them to do "fun" portraits or use props. They are also fairly pricey so if you are going be sure to sign up for their emails so you can get coupons online (or check the Entertainment Book). Also beware - they will print a bunch of portraits you didn't ask for, frame them, and try to hard sell you on those. Go in with a budget in mind or you could easily be in for over $200.00.

Not sure where you live, but there is a place called Portrait Innovations in Orland Park. It is in the newer shopping area at 143rd and LaGrange.

I have been to Picture People in Orland and I was not very impressed. I didn't like that I could only get one picture per sheet/picture and each was $18. At the Penneys in Orland I was able to get a single sheet with several photos worked into a collage for about the same amount. Its a great way to get several shots of your child in one frame for pretty cheap. If you find another option that you like, I would be interested to hear about it.

Picture People is a little pricey, but you get your pictures right away unless you are ordering a 10X13 or larger portrait. You can pick from several different packages or just purchase sheets. They took dozens of shots so you should be able to get at least a few good ones where your little boy is sitting still. There are a lot of nice backgrounds and props for kids photos as well.

I've gone to the Picture People twice. In my experience, the color quality is not good (I'm African-American and I came out looking really gray, like a cadaver) and they wouldn't adjust the print to make the color more true to life, they're not very accomodating for squirmy babies, and they're too expensive because they don't have packages. They claim it's because they don't want you to pay for pictures you don't want, but that doesn't work for me. Sears is great, and you save when you join Smile Savers ($15?), especially if you take pictures more than once a year.
