Pick Your Own Pumpkins

Has anyone been to a pick your own pumpkin patch in (or near) San Antonio? We love to do pick your own fruit and veggies and last year picked our Christmas tree, but I thought a pick your pumpkin on the vine experience would be really cool. If you've been to one or heard of one I'd love to know!

What can I do next?

My husband and I actually run a pumpkin patch for our church. Alamo Height United Methodist Church. We will be getting 2 tractor trailors full of pumpkins on Saturday, Oct 4th at 8am. We will fill an entire portion of our church yard with a sea of pumpkins. We encourage you to bring your kids and have pictures taken in the patch. We will have bails of hay and decoration for a backdrop and I know that many family make this an annual event and bring lunch and eat in the patch. The patch will be in operation from Saturday the 4th of October until Oct 31st evening. Come by and visit us. If you want to purchase pumpkins all the proceeds go to charity in our city. The main charity is Habitat for Humanity. Our church builds a new house every 2 years with the money from this event. Our church is located on Basse road and the pumpkin patch is on Nottingham behind the church. Come and check us out. I think you will be impressed.

There is a place in the Hill Country called Love Creek Orchard that does Harvest Days and has a pumpkin patch as well as other activities. I'm not sure how far it is but here is the website link:

Oxford United Methodist Church on Huebner Rd. also does a pumpkin patch every year but you don't actually get to pick them off the vine. They are all laid out on a big lawn and you get to pick out the one you want. It's pretty fun that they usually have a good variety.

Hope you have fun!

I dont think pumpkins grow in our neck of the woods, but there will be lots of pumpkin patches around town where they have shipped some in from north of here. Out near Castroville there is a corn maze and you can buy a pumpkin
