What does anyone know about phentermine. I am a 41 year old considering this option. Has anyone tried this before? Is it safe? Does it work for weight loss? What about HCG/

What can I do next?

Phentermine caused me to lock my jaws without even realizing it. I've had a minor problem with tmj ever since I stopped taking it. I lost 30 pounds fast. But of course it came back on when I stopped taking it. It's not worth it. You have to take more and more over time and it's definitely not a safe way to live.

I actually lost a good deal of weight using phentermine and have kept it off (I'm also 41). I had completely lost all sustaining motivation and it enabled me to find that again and get back into truly eating healthy, not eating any junk and exercising until that was my lifestyle when I quit taking it and I didn't want to stop. I recommend it if nothing else has or is working for you AND it's administered under a real doctor's care who monitors your blood pressure, heart activity and does a complete medical background history. It can be very dangerous if you have ANY blood pressure or seizure issues as well as a few other things. Some info you read says it's addictive, but I never experienced any addictiveness to it or withdrawals from it. It completely knocked my appetite out! I ate, but only when I was truly hungry and it killed all desire for heavy carbs and sweets. The doctor I saw also had me meet several times with a nutritionist. After stopping it, I was "trained" and have had no problems keeping up the correct eating and exercise plan. Good luck!

My opinion on HCG is to stay away from it. I was hesitant enough about the phentermine, but the whole 500 calorie a day thing combined with hormones is just too much in my opinion.

I tried hcg and the first shot worked but as with all drugs it's effectiveness waned after a couple of days. It was very expensive and you are supposed to only eat 500 calories per day. Anyone will lose weight at that calories level. I was forced to quit taking it when it caused me to very painfully ovulate as it is a fertility drug. I was in agony for hours and felt like I was giving birth. I would pass on it.

What would you want your kids to do if they had weight issues? What you model to them is what they learn. Can't beat healthy food and exercise. If you have girls, make sure you never talk about your weight or their weight - only about being healthy.

Two years after I had my second son I tried Phentermine to assist me with losing weight. My dr prescribed it for me and in a short time I lost a pretty good amount ( 30lbs in approx. 3 months). With that being said, I did change my diet. He told me to cut out fried foods, limit carbs and to drink ice cold water to aid in burning calories. I also adding walking to my plan. The Phentermine did make me very thirsty and if your not careful it may cause a rapid heart rate. I definitely would use it if you have problems with high blood pressure. Then again, you have to get it from your Dr. So he/she will suggest what's best for you. I haven't the other you mentioned but, I have heard that you get pretty good results. I may look it up for myself.

RE: HCG...anyone with common sense knows that 500 cal a day is starvation and body will lose initially but when you have to start eating more, you will double or triple weight b/c body will want to hold onto anything you put into it. Ex. survivor people on island...survivor people at end of season when back in states doing last episode.

Pheteramine?? Same result. Can do irreversable damage to heart and other systems. SO NOT WORTH IT!!! Been there...done that!

Get with a nutritionist and start walking!! Anything but popping pills!!!
We pay for instant gratification in the end!! Try finding a buddy who you can do this with and make each other accountable!!
Good luck!!

I know someone on HCG but she is very limited in what she eats AND she can't even use anything w/oils, like lotions or certain shampoos. I'm sure I can lose alot of weight if I was on 500 calories a day whether I was taking the shots or not. She is grumpy and imo she can't make very good decisions lately.

My theory is ifyou gained weight naturally (overeating, lack of excercise, getting older in general, etc) then you should lose weight naturally, not by pills or shots. Just my opinion.

I know that phentermine and hcg are both bad choices when it comes to weight loss. They can cause long-term damage to your heart and your metabolism.

The best, albeit boring and not instant gratification, way to lose weight is to acknowledge weight loss as a lifestyle change and adopt healthy habits for a lifetime, not turn to band-aid solutions that prey on desperation for weight loss.
