You and hubby both need to be treated with Diflucan or similar yeast meds.
We had the same problem when we were first married. Once I started only using pads and no tampons mine improved. Also... refrain from douches... these cause more of an imbalance in the vagina and that makes the yeast worse.

I have read (getting ParaGuard in a few weeks) that that is a common "hidden" problem with Mirena. One that they don't tell you about, and your doctors refuse to attribute to the IUD. Amongst others.
My research was comparing Mirena with Paraguard, and that's one of the reasons I decided to go with Paraguard.

I had that problem whenever i was on any kind of birth control. I would get one every month. Have you considered the other type of iud that is not hormonal? I had one of thoes. 9 months after i had it put in i got pregnant with it though. but i am told that is very rare. i was like the .1 or whatever percent. But when i had it in i didn't get yeast infections.

I can feel for you in regards to the yeast infection. I have not had the merina implant but would talk to your ob/gyn. I suffered with yeast infections for months on end. When I finally went to the ob, she took a sample and looked at it under the microscope. She told me that it was a yeast infection but it was a certain type calling for a different treatment than the OTC or usual ones. I do not recall what she gave me but it did help and finally I got rid of the infection. She also ran all sorts of lab work to rule out other things like diabetes or STD's. The other suggestions she had was to not use regular soap or scented soaps in that area. She suggested using a feminine wash product instead or just plain water on the wash cloth. This actually helped a lot. Even now I use the fem. wash instead of soap. When I use soap it is very irritating even now. Her other suggestion was to urinate and clean up right after sex. Good luck!

Were you prone to them before? A yeast infection is caused by an imbalance of microbes (yeast vs. bacteria) in your vagina. It may not be a yeast infection. If this has been going on repeatedly, then you should see your doctor. Have you treated it using OTC drugs? If so, and it's not working, then it's probably a different kind of infection that will need to be treated with antibiotics.
