ever since june'06 i tried out a new birth control method for myself personally, which is the IUD. ever since i had my son, i have no cramps, the 28 days are off, and my period varies between 3-14 days long. now just recently my period came on time (28 days) and each day it was spotting, just enough to fill panty liners. is this just because i'm trying a new birth control?

What can I do next?

I got an IUD myself a little over a year ago. my period, both lenthwise and flowwise, was not regular for about 6 months. they would last anywhere from 3-14 days. now its down to almost nothing and i am pretty much on a regular schedule give or take a few days. i was always awful and remembering pills and i hate needles so this was the best thing i could have done.

One type of IUD has hormones in it and sometimes your period will completely go away.

there are 2 types of IUDs. Hormonal and Nonhormonal. The one I had was nonhormonal. I LOVED IT!!

It took my body a lil time to get used to having something there. After about 3 or 4 months my period were "normal"

Just give your bosy sometime to get used to this new thing.

This is the same situation with me. I but I just got the IUD last thursday. I had cramping the first 2 days, which they said is normal. But 2 days ago I started what I think is my pd. Its VERY light, but just enough where I need to wear a liner.
But I was curious to know how everybodies experience is on it and what I should look forward to. :-\

I am also on the iud called the merina i don't know if that is the one that u use but I found out the side effects are differnet people. for example mine are cramps and spotting but i still get my period but it is not heavy it is real lite but last a cople of days and goes away then come back. But I would tell you to talk to the doctor and also get it checked reguraly to make sure it is in the right place. because if you have alot of sex it can cause it to come out or your patner can knock it out with out even knowing.

Hey! I just wanted to tell you that I decided to go with an IUD after my son was born, too. Before I was pregnant my period was very regular and very predictable. Since my son was born and I got the IUD, I will actually skip months. I get months like you and the opposite of you where I bled so strong it was dripping. I can't tell you for sure if it's normal, but I'm thinking.. it probably is. You have something inserted into your uterus.. things are going to change a bit. I wouldn't be too worried unless you're bleeding obsessively.. which I think they say is more than a pad an hour, or if you stop having your period all together. Other than that.. I'd just make sure to go to your gyno regularly to make sure everything's fine. Take care and I hope this helps a little!

Smiles,
E.

J. I would check with your doctor I will tell you that my ob wanted me to go with a IUD. I was discussing it with my mother and learned that both my mom and aunt had them and my aunts keep coming out and my moms got ingrown and she had to have surgery to remove it. I like the ring myself. i would just check with your doctor.
