Period Came Early Two Months in a Row

I have been on birth control for 20+ years. The last two months I've started my period like 5 days early (while I'm still taking the pack of monthly pills). I haven't skipped or missed any pills, I"m not taking any new medications. I'm doing every thing the same as I always have and now I"m having horrible lower back pain right on my butt bone. I am clueless as to why this is happeneing and wondered if anyone had ever experienced anything like this. I'm putting a call into my doctor, but in the meantime if anyone has any insight...I'm listening.

What can I do next?

Periods change. Even if they've been like clockwork for YEARS things can still change. Go to the DR if you're concerned (especially with the pain) but I imagine s/he will tell you the same thing.
Congratulations, you're getting older!

I hit my late 30s and suddenly the pills that had worked great for years started doing the same thing. Some months, I'd have two periods. Not ok. It took a few tries with different brands to get the hormones just right, but then things got back on track.

I would talk to your OB/GYN about changing prescriptions. Our hormones change a lot at this age, so your prescription is probably not a good match anymore.

If you're in your late 30's/early 40's - things start getting less predictable.
It's prime time for perimenopause to start up - it can go on for 10 or more years getting gradually more and more quirky (early periods/late periods/skipped periods, etc).
It's good your having your Dr check it out.

This has happened to me twice in the last year. I think there is a big fluctuation in hormones as you get older, and it can cause your period to become irregular even if you're on the pill.

I second what Mamazita said below... our bodies change over the years.. Wait til you hit perimenopause..... WHEW... talk about changes..
To get a better grasp of my ever-changing body.. about 5 years ago, I began charting my monthly cycle.. now at 49.. It's been a tremendous help because it allows me to better track when my periods have changed and the symptoms.. and boy oh boy are there symptoms... However, once I began to see trends.. I became less nervous about things..

Also, when younger, I never had back pain.. now, with uterine fibroids.. I get sciatica around the same area and down my legs.. you may want to get checked for those.. and don't worry.. they are benign.... however, they can be a little uncomfortable at times..

good luck

I just turned 40. I can't imagine it would be that, but never thought of that either.
