Hi Mamas, Just want to start out by saying I enjoy reading this site daily. My question is after a miscarriage, when should you get your period. I miscarried on May 17 and bled for a week. Should it be twenty-eight days after that day? I did ovulate a couple weeks ago. I just do not know what my cycle is now. Thanks.

Hi M., I miscarried twice and each time it took a couple of months for my cycle to get back to normal--but the ovulation seems like a good sign of things being back on track...It's so hard, but all you can do it wait and hope, eh? Good luck! By the way, after those miscarriages I had two healthy babies one right after the other, so all is well that ends well!

Hi there,
This varies each time, and with each person. Sometimes it takes a few months, sometimes it starts right back up again. But if you know for sure that you ovulated a couple weeks ago, you should be getting your period any day. Usually the length of the cycle only varies before ovulation; after, it is right around two weeks. If you know you ovulated but haven't gotten it in a few days, you could be pregnant. That happened to me after two of my three miscarriages. The hormones are still all out of whack from the pregnancy and miscarriage, so that probably accounts for it. I'm sorry for your loss -- I know how painful it is.

I think this might vary depending on a person's cycle. For me, it was a few months before I got my period. My friend got hers within a month after miscarrying.

Hi, I miscarried back in September and it took 8 weeks to get my cycle back, than the next cycle was 9 weeks, and than after that it was about every 6 weeks. The last few months I am pretty much back to normal but it took a long time for me. My doctor said that it can take up to or sometimes longer than 6 months for your cycles to get back to normal because your body just went through a lot. Good luck...and I know how frustrating the whole thing can be after losing a baby and having crazy cycles and than your body gives you all of the pregnancy symptoms but you are not preggers!!
