I'm looking for a new pediatrician. Does anyone have any feedback on either Dr. Kathleen Gruzalski or Dr. Patricia Murphy? Thanks.

What can I do next?

I second what everyone else says. The doctors have no idea who we are even though we've been going there for over six years. While they know their medicine and some of them are nice (you have to weed them out to find the right one, I've had a couple bad experiences), you are much better off with a smaller practice that knows who you are the second you walk through the door. Please let us know if you find one, I would love to change. I like most of the nurses, with one exception. Last year my boys got the flu shot, my husband had my oldest while I left the room with my youngest so as not to scare him. He did cry a bit but my husband held on to him so he wouldn't move and the nurse looked at my son and threatened to go get another nurse to hold him down until he calmed down for the shot. When he was done I came back into the room for my youngest and all went well. So I thought. My husband told me as we got back to the car and I was furious. Had I been there we would have had words. We've never had her again, thank goodness. Needles to say, I've been looking to find a new pediatrician for a while. Good luck and I hope you find the right one.

We have been going to Dr. Patricia Murphy since my kids were born -- she was referred to me by my OB (as my kids were very premature and I hadn't had a ped picked out yet) and I couldn't be happier! She is the best!!!!
And everyone at the office is very nice!!!

We started with this practice nearly 25 years ago, and all 3 of my kids love Dr. Gruzalski. You can choose your primary doctor for regular visits, but in an emergency you'd see whoever is there, or visit the Naperville office. We're disappointed that at age 18 we had to find a big person doc. Dr. Steinken was the one to diagnose my oldest's lactose intolerance, Dr. Froelich saw us on many emergencies, and we've seen the others off and on. I couldn't find more caring doctors.

Hi P.,
My son`s first pediatrician was Dr Froelich... We have been to Dr. Kathleen Gruzalski...
I didn`t have very good experience with the Dupage Medical Group (not with any particular doc)... The waiting is sooooo long... And the doctors are always in a hurry..It was like we are asking some questions...They are nearly stepping out of the room & answering so before you have any follow up questions..they are gone...

Personally I liked Dr Froelich but didn`t get to see her all the time...I changed my son`s ped when he was 3 & now I`m happy I did that..
Good luck with your pediatrician search..

They are with the DuPage Medical Group located in Good Sam hospital right? I've got to be honest -we left that practice 5-6 years ago. They're a factory at that office. The waiting room is packed with kids and they've got you in and out. The doctors also don't spend that much time with you and your child either! My son had an awful cough and I kept going back (3 times in about 2 weeks), they told me different things each time and then new stuff that I should have been doing the whole time when his cold/cough started! That was it! I moved doctors and when we went there the first time, they talked to both my children and myself, asked if I had any questions, and check things on my children that the other doctors had NEVER done! (spine checks, asked for urine sample for a physical, etc.) We've been very happy with our new doctors - I live in Elmhurst though. We're with Dr. Cathy Wigner now - She's with the Elmhurst PEdiatrics group.

They belong to Dupage Medical and I go there, I love them. The main dr that I see is Dr Froelich, she is great. My son had teh Flu type A and B about( it was really bad) 4-5 years ago and she made sure I had everything I needed, she even gave me her home number in case of anything. She called me to check on him. When He was born they were ready to send us home until she came and checked on him and found that he was Jundice and the level was high,so he didnt come home with me, but a few days later. Everythime we go there, she takes her time and answers any questions. I have also seen the two you mentioned and they are great too. It just seems like they all care adn listen. Yes it true there a few in there, but I hardly ever see some of them. Their yearly check ups are with the same dr ( I make sure of that) and when they are sick I always ask who is there and then I ge tto pick which one I want to see. There were also a few times they couldnt get me in or the dr I wanted to see was not at that office and asked if I wanted to go to their Naperville office ( which I did)

I will be honest here and say there is one dr I do not like and I will never see him and that Dr Steiken. He is the one that was going to send my son home with Jundice while th elevels where too high, when i asked why he said I dont have to answer to anyone we all practice differently. Fronm that time I have never seen him. ( I know that dr froelich said something to him when she found out that the levels where high, so I think that why he said that to me) But I am lucky that I really never had to see him.

Everyone else in there is wonderful!!!!

Now everyone has there own opinions, so you might want to try for yourself.
If you have any questions email me
Good Luck

My sons doc is doc. Steinken (DuPage Med Group). I love him. My son is 2 1/2 and we try to see doc. Steinken when ever we go. I have seen every other doc in the practice but I really only like doc steinken. I read some of the other responses and was surprised I have never had a long wait or been in the waiting room with more then 3 or 4 other families. doc. Steinken remembers my son when ever I go in and always makes sure all of my questions are answered. Good luck with your search.

Hi P.,
We also go to that group, but have only seen Dr Froehlich so far. I disagree with the people that say the office is like a factory and that they don't seem to care. We have had a great experience there. We've never had to wait very long for the appointments and Dr Froehlich has been great answering my questions. I've also called the nurses and received prompt follow-up for my questions. The best thing for me is that the office has great hours and you can see your dr of choice at a different office if you really want. (They have an office at Good Sam, but also a location on Ogden in Naperville, and are opening a third location--I think it's in Bolingbrook or Aurora?) Good luck!

Our main doctor is Dr. Gruzalski and we love her. She answers questions as best as possible, but I try to have all my questions ready for her. She interacts very well with the children. My children range in ages from 11, 7 and 3. I have seen both doctors and have no problems with either.

Good luck in finding a doctor.

We really love Dr. Froehlich, Dr. steinken and Dr. Pollack in that practice. Dr. Gruzalski is fine too but we try to stick with the same doctor as much as possible to give my son consistency...we go so infrequently (luckily) that I don't expect them to remember us. When My son was first born he was very jaundiced and they took great care of him (and me emotionally) The called home with results or asked me to call them at home to update progress when it was outside of office hours. They were all really wonderful. Even when he was older, I just walked in one day when they had opened up rather than try to call and the nurses saw him immediatly and squeezed him in the schedule. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for any appointment. I think it is usually best to try different ones out because everyone expects something different from their doctors. Good luck!

We went to that office a few times and requested a different doc each time. DID NOT LIKE ANY OF THEM! We tried Naperville Pediatrics at 10 Martin Ave right next to the hospital on a recomendation and absolutely love the docs there. Not only are the docs wonderful with the kids (mommas too) but they have great hours and are even open on Sundays for sickies. We've been there for 12 years and are sad that my ex's insurance now requires us to change. Naperville Pediatrics ###-###-####
