Pediatrician in Grapevine and Mother's Day Ideas!

I have a pediatrician in Bedford but I am kind of frustrated with him as he doesn't really give me any specifics regarding how to and how much to feed my son, going from nursing to cow's milk, etc. My son just turned one and is soooooo not interested in being weaned at the moment! We live close to Baylor and I'd like to find someone in that complex. Also, weaning advice from others that have nursed for a year (or more) would be greatly appreciated! :)

On a side note: I have started making mother's bracelets and other jewelry from home to supplement my SAHM income (which is nil!!). If anyone is interested in more information, please email me at ____@____.com

Thanks Moms!

You don't really need advice from the pediatrician on this. Go to the Gerber website and they have very detailed feeding plans for each stage of development. I have used them and my daughter is the perfect weight and very healthy. Of course, you still may want to change pediatricians if he is not giving you good advice.

I am weaning my third little girl she is 14 months old and I am doing it slowly. She nursed three times a day now we are just at night time right before bed. First I decide to quite nursing before nap time I would give her a cup of water instead and than off to bed she went. It took her awhile to get use to the cows milk. I did the breast milk/cows milk or chocolate milk it just took her until now to drink it.We just got rid of the morning nursing. She eats her breakfast and I give her milk and a snack. She seems to be happy and not crying for it.We also stay away from the area where I nurse her and play and entertain her with something else. I wanted to end nursing when she just turned one cause my other two decide to quite around 12 months but just go slowly and it doesnt matter on how much cows milk they drink cause you are providing what they still need. As long as they get a taste of cows milk they will eventually get use to it.
Just go slowly.

Good Luck! :)

We like Dr. Mary Askari. She has an office in Grapevine near Hwy 26 & 114. I breastfed both my daughters for a year; they picked out sippy cups they liked and I put breastmilk in it and then mixed it with whole cow's milk slowly over a couple days until they drank only cow's milk; I continued with breastfeeding in the morning and at bedtime, but eventually stopped after a few months. I would rock and sing them, but no breastfeeding. They both did great. Good luck to you.

My daughter is 14 months old and I am still nursing her. At 12 months she was so not interested in stopping. She eats a regular breakfast, lunch and dinner with snacks in between, but she still wanted to nurse. Now at 14 months, I can tell that she is slowly weaning herself off. She will latch on and then after a few moments will jump off my lap. I guess it is just a reassurance thing. Now whenever she starts to rip off my shirt, I take her to the kitchen and offer her a snack. That seems to work. She loves to nurse in the morning, so now I take her to the park and we play. It gets her mind off of it. Be careful if your baby starts to get new teeth in. My daughter just got one in last week and during that time she resorted back to nursing all the time due to it being comforting to her. As far as how much food to give your child, I kind of go by the nursing theory. Your baby nursed until they were done and latched off. Babies don't stuff themselves silly like adults do sometimes. They just eat enough until they are satisfied. Some days they eat more than others- kind of like some days you are hungrier than others. I do recommend Dr. Mary Askari with Clinical Pediatrics in Grapevine. She is right next to the Tom Thumb off of Northwest Hwy.
