Pediatrician

I too am recommending Dr. Raine in Arlington. NEVER EVER has he made me or my children feel uncomfortable or rushed. I actually think he is the only Dr that I have come in contact wiht that spends so much time and is there for every detail supportively. He also can get you in the day you call, there is a group so Saturdays you have the option to take your child in and he's been around for a while. We just love him and I can't say enough about Dr. Raine. Best of luck to you.

I also take my son to Dr.Fikkert in Arlington. She is AWESOME!! I totally agree with everything that was said in the other response. My son didn't like his doctor either, and got upset whenever we went. But that has never happened with Dr. Fikkert!! He LOVES her and actually enjoys going to the doctor now! She is very loving and caring to the children and respectful of the parents. You will never feel rushed or disrespected! Her number is ###-###-####. I have an EXCELLENT pediatrician! Her name is Dr. Fikkert and she is in the hospital on the corner of I-20 and Matlock. My chidren LOVE to go to the doctor - even after they've had to get shots. They still love Dr. Fikkert and often tell me to "Call Dr. Fikkert" when something is wrong "she'll know what to do". She is funny and light hearted with the kids but very honest and straight-forward with the parents. She is very good about explaining to the children exactly what she is going to do and even goes into things like explaining before she looks in private places that no one else can look there except Mom and that the only reason she (the Dr.) can look there is because mom (or dad) is there and gives them permission. Then she will ask for your permission. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Fikkert!

My boys see Dr. Raine. He is with Cook Children's in Arlington. He is absolutely WONDERFUL! I never feel rushed or that I am imposing by asking questions. I highly recommend Dr. Raine. His # is ###-###-####.

My son goes to Dr. Meyer ###-###-####). He is in the same office as Dr. Fikkert. It seems that all of the doctors in that ofice are great! Rylan (my son)is 16 months & still doesn't like the vaccinations but likes the rest of the visit. I've found that Dr. Meyer is very relaxed, listens to all of my questions, doesn't judge or act like I'm stupid for asking certain things (this is my first baby so I'm sure some of my questions seem silly!), and is generally easy to talk to. I don't have a Dr. recomondation for you, but I wanted to let you know that, Yes, it is normal for a 19 month old to cry when getting a check up. They don't like the doctor, the office, or anythign at all that is going on. Eventually, that will get better!

Also, if you are not comfotable with your Dr. (for whatever reason), you should get a new one. Especially if the doc won't listen to you. The relationship needs to be a partnership...they are there to help you and support you, not make you feel stupid!

Good luck with finding a Dr.! It took us 4 tries to get one we love (unfortunately, we are not near you)! I hope the process goes more quickly for you!

If you have Medicaid she doesnt take it, but if you have private insurance she does and has been my son's doctor since he was about 4 yrs old. and he's 9 yr old now. And he's even disabled. She'll see any kind, She's very genle and kind with the patients, she will always say, "No owies" its so cute. But she is in zip code I believe 76133.
