Hi Mammas!

We are new to Texas and it is time for my two daughters (8 & 10) to get their dental check ups. I keep getting a card in the mail for a Dr. Mark Lantzy in Roanoke. Has anyone used him? What is his "bedside" manner like? What about the staff? Kid friendly? My oldest never has had a problem going. My youngest absolutely freaks out (even having her x-rays taken scares her). I need someone who is calm and REALLY kid friendly.

Also, any recommendations on an adult dentist who caters to cowards (me!)?

Thanks a bunch!

What can I do next?

I don't know about Dr. Lantzy, but we use Dr. Bridget McAnthony in Keller. We really like that they let the parents back in the treatment area with their kids...I've found that a lot of other pediatric dentists don't allow this. Her staff is really good about explaining everything to the kids before doing it, and Dr. Mac is very friendly. It is a great atmosphere, they can watch TV while getting teeth cleaned. My daughter was apprehensive before her first visit, but had such a good experience that she's never been scared to go since.

I work with kids in a medical setting, here is some side advice: make sure that you really talk up the dentist and show her that you are confident that your daughter will do a great job and there is nothing to worry about...and show her that you aren't worried either. Then after she's done, praise her, and ask her to tell you about how she is proud of herself. This positive self talk will help cope better for future dental visits.

Good luck where ever you go!

For an adult dentist, I highly recommend Dr Michael Morgan in Southlake. Fabulous staff - super friendly, accomodating and caring. Dr. Morgan is very patient, explains everything thoroughly, and deals well with dental cowards like me! I've had lots of dental issues throughout the years, and he is, by far, the best dentist I've encountered.

We saw Dr. Lantzy a couple years ago. The kids liked him ok, but he wanted to fill everything, even the tiny cavity on my son's loose tooth! That seemed unnecessary to me, so we switched dentists. We go to Just For Kids Dentistry on 377 (Main St) in Keller and love them. They have tvs for the kids to watch while he works on them and he's very gentle. Ds has had quite a bit of work done and we've been very pleased with them.

Dr. Lantzy is great, we have three kiddos that see him. He and his staff are very adept at putting the kiddos at ease before he does anything.
