Also, my 2 year old is having a horrible time right now w/ his excema. The back of his legs are chaffed, blistered and itchy. he complains "they hurt and itch!" I feel like we have tried everything...any one have any suggestions for a miracle cream or cure?!

My eldest son has excema in his ear of all places!! We fight with it CONSTANTLY because it causes skin to flake off in his eardrum and gets skin infections all the time...ICK!!!

Anyhow, the best things we have found as far as prescriptions was tazorac cream. As far as OTC stuff, add a tube of hydrocortisone cream to a small bottle of good lotion (for sensitive skin)--shake it up good and keep it on there constantly!! I do it MANY times a day when it flares up badly. It is craving moisture...so give it to the skin...the hydrocortisone will help keep the itching and swelling down...

hope this helps!!!!
hugs

We live in Mckinney and use the "tooth fairy" on El Dorado Pkwy. They are nice and do a good job but I don't know that it would be worth the drive for you.

Since your 2yr. has blisters I would caution you not to use anything that has a petro-chmeical in it like mineral oil or petroleum. I would say to stay away from products like that even after it clears up. I would get a refferal to a dermatologist and tell him you want something chemical-free to treat your son's excema and then in conjuction switch out all of your bathing products with Arbonne's baby line. After its all cleared up keep using the Arbonne baby line. I have 3 girls myself with sensitive skin and the baby line is what sold me on all the products in general! Good luck!

My husband had exzema as a teen, and found that the only lotion that helped him was the Curel Ultra Healing (red label) lotion. I use it on my son after his bath every night, as he will sometimes get patches on his body. It seems to help.

The other lotion that has helped my son is the Baby Aveeno for very dry skin including excema (dark blue label). The big pump of Curel will be cheaper to try first, but the Baby Aveeno is another good option.

Hi C.,

I agree with the Mamas about the Arbonne baby care line. It not only helped my own 2 children, but the line has also helped several of my friends' children who suffer from eczema. If you'd like to sample the products (no obligation), please let me know. It did WONDERS for my children's eczema!

As for a pediatric Dentist, Dr. Terri Train is WONDERFUL! My 4 year old LOVES to go to the Dentist--she started going when she was 3 1/2. It is a very kid-friendly environment with video games, monkies on the ceiling, and they even let the kids wear sunglasses while they're having their teeth cleaned. Her office number is ###-###-####. She has a location in Richardson (off 75 and Arapaho I believe) and one in Carrollton.

Good luck in finding the best solutions for your children.

Have a great evening,
Jacqueline

My favorite Pediatric Dentist is Dr. Robert (Bob) Morgan. He is in Richardson, Coit and Campbell. I drive a huge distanst to all my kids docs because they are the best!! He also works sometimes out of another office in Las Collinas and at Children's hospital. I have known him since I was 5, I went to the same school with his kids. It is the most friendliest place I have ever seen! The kids go back by themselves without parents in a big room. They have movies, games, ballon making, coloring, etc for them to familarise themselves back in the room. Oh, and when it comes time for braces his brother or brother in law is an orthadontist. If you are interested let me know and I will look for his number! He is awesome!! L.

hello C.,
My eye specialist's name is Dr Bazan ###-###-#### He is at the Spring creek and 75 Sam's Club. I love Dr. Bazan, he is very patient and answears all your concerns, He also sees my 10 year old boy. This specialist is very reasonable with prices and suggestions.
About your eczema my best advice would be to avoid anything with parfum such as lotions, detergents, bar soaps, etc. Try unscented Vaseline at night to hydrate the skin. Do not use the over the counter stuff because from my personal experience it has alcohol and parfume and makes your eczema worse.
You also my need a prescription ointment called cutivate or hydrocortyzone that is only prescribed. Take care of you little one.
Best regards,
I.

Elidel is a perscription cream safe for kids 2 and up. It cleared up my daughters within 2 days, and now when I see a hint of it, I rub a little on and it never even flares up.
Hope it works for you!

If he has blisters, he may have an infection. My son had excema as a baby with a staph infection that went untreated for 8 months. Well, not so much untreated as undiagnosed. He had blisters all over his face. For 8 months!! It was awful. We finally found a pediatric dermatologist who took bloodwork and cultures and found out he had staph in his excema! I went through 3 pediatricians who totally dismissed me and told me to just go home until I found my current pediatrician, Dr. Ashworth, who knew something was wrong and got me to a Dermatologist who could correctly diagnose the problem.

Anyway......we now use Bactroban if he ever starts to show signs of his excema flairing, and within 3 or 4 days, he is perfectly clear again.

However, you can't just use it for 2 days and say it isn't working. If he has an infection inside his excema, you need to use it for 4 or 5+ days until it kills the bacteria. If you give up, thinking it isn't working, it will come back. I made that mistake. :( I am not sure if Bactroban is a prescription or not. I think it is. See if you can call some in from your Dr. or ask a pharmacist for something similar. I was told that you can't use Neosporin on young children!!!! So don't use that.

Ask your Dr. about a possible infection within the excema! I let 3 pediatricians bully me until I finally found the reason behind the blisters!

Good luck,
L.

Melalueca products are incredible! I have a contact that could help you with information on these products if you are interested. Melalueca products have tea tree oil in them and that is a natural healing agent. I have a friend & sister in law with severe excema, and both are now using the products. They have everything from soaps, lotions, ointments, laundry detergent, vitamins, to house cleaning products, and food.

We used some cream we got off the web called FreeDerm. It is a very thick cream that came in a tub. They also sent us a bar soap, but we never tried that. I took it in to my ped before using it and he said it was good. It worked great for our little one.
