Hello, how do you get an accurate measurement using the drop ins? I have been measuring the water in a regular bottle before pouring it into the playtex drop in or else I never get the right amount.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks all ! Rebecca G was right, you have to use the right liner for the nurser. i had both the playtex expandable drop ins and the ones from Target which only would hold 8 oz. The Target liners will not work with the contoured shape nurser/bottle since those are only for the expandable liners. I figured it out after researching on the net and experimenting with the liners and bottles i had.

I did the same when I used formula. It is difficult, but the bottles help eliminate swallowing air. I breastfed and pumped for the most part, but at 7 months I had to put my oldest on formula because I was put on muscle relaxers for a few weeks. I also had to supplement with my 2nd son because I was unable to supply enough for him. I mean literally I would pump for 15 minutes when he became angry at not getting enough while nursing and I would not get any and he was obviously hungry. So I gave in an gave him a 4 ounce bottle for formula. This started at 4 months.

honestly when using formula i would just put the formula in first & then fill with water to the top, (making either a four or eight ounce bottle) really i don't think it's gonna be off that much that i need to really worry about it

Just use a Pyrex measuring cup. 1 cup is 8 ounces and 1/2 a cup is 4 ounces. Put the water in there first then the formula powder.

It depends on the drop-in liner you're using. There are 10 oz. and 8 oz. liners and the bottle shows measurements for both. So look on the box of liners you're using and use the measurements on the bottle that match the liners. It should be accurate but double check with a measuring cup. (It took me 2 babies to figure this out...with my first I never could figure out what the deal was with the bottles or what I was supposed to be doing...lol.)

We used a kitchen scale. Put the drop-in in the bottle, put it on the scale, zero out the scale, and pour in the water. This is the only way we could make sur the bottle had the right amount of water. Good luck!

l always pored the water into a measuring cup first and then dumped that into the the playtex liner.
