Parent's Choice Vs. Pampers

Whats the difference, other than price? I've always bought Pampers, I guess just because I felt like buying the most expensive diapers was the equivalent of giving my daughter the best, which in turn made me the best mom. But, I bought Parent's Choice this time, because I felt like being a little more practical about this. I mean, there was one diaper that was missing a "latchy thing" on the side, but for almost $10 cheaper, that's ok. I mean, I wasn't really happy with Pampers anyway. They kept busting open and making huge messes with dirty urine covered insides (usually in the mornings after spending a night in them). I even bought the Pampers overnights, and the same thing happened. I don't have this problem with the Parents Choice. So, then I was wondering if maybe it has something to do with the chemicals, or something not visibly evident. Or, is Pampers just more expensive because of the brand name? What have your experiences been? I didn't like Huggies when I tried them in the early months. She seemed to have more blow outs in Huggies. She still has blow outs in Pampers, and so far this hasn't happened with the Parents Choice diapers.

What can I do next?

The name brands never worked for my kids - they all leaked. Parent's Choice always worked - no leaks! I also smelled petroleum when I opened the package to all of the name brands - I threw them away. If Parent's Choice is working better - use them :)

It depends on the child. There is something slightly different about every diaper out there. My son has sensitive skin and the only diaper we could use were Pampers, anything else gave him a horrible rash.

I LOVE Parent's Choice...They work THE BEST...at least for my daughter. I RARELY had them leak overnight and I ALWAYS had Pampers or Huggies leak on me.....My daughter only wears diapers at night now and I use the Food Lion Brand and they work well too, not leaky all that much but more than the Parent's Choice. I don't live close to a Walmart, so I do not get the Parent;s Choice often anymore, but I do think thay are the best I've found. My daughter never had any sensitivity problems or reactions to any diapers/wipes, etc, but if your daughter is reacting well to them and they are working, why not save the money! BTW- More expensive does not always equal BEST. :)

I agree that it must be in the shape. I tried Huggies, Parent's Choice, Up&Up, and Luvs. The ONLY thing that works well for my DD is the Pampers overnights... The Huggies leaked through the top. Parent's Choice and Up&Up leaked through the legs. Luvs just plain leaked through. (And I was staying pretty on top of her diaper situation! She was getting changed before every feeding, and whenever I noticed that she was soiled!) So I just decided to stick with Pampers, and I have been pretty happy with them. :)

My oldest daugher would get a rash unless she was wearing Pampers Supreme (she is 13 now so I am sure the technology and names have changed). My youngest (now 10) did fine with the CVS brand diaper which was great since it is the closest store to our house and they are cheap. I found that most of the "store name" diapers were all very similar, like Market Basket and CVS and Walmart's own brand. I would pick them up wherever I happened to be, whereas for the oldest I would go to Costco and buy a huge carton of the expensive brand name ones.

I HATE Parents Choice, they gave both of my kids awful diaper rashes. Plus they always leaked, you could try Huggies again, their overnight diapers work better than the Pampers ones. I would have loved to save the money, but we are a family with sensitive skin all around, the kids get it honest.

I used Parents Choice with my all 3 of my boys and loved them. We never had any problems with leaks and we used them for overnights. I never did like the Luvs brand and had no reason for name brand. Having them be so cheap was also a nice bonus.

We've used all sorts of brands of diapers for our twins (and, trust me, we've gone through a lot). We use Pampers because for my boys they leak and explode less. I found Parent's Choice leaked a ton, so we stopped using them. Huggies were fine when they were babies, but now that they're two, they leak more. So, we've continued to use Pampers. Diapers work differently on different kiddos, so it's great that the less expensive brand works for you!

If it works for your kid then I say go for it!
I, unfortunately, was not able to switch up diapers. My son's butt would just rash up if I used anything other than huggies. I didn't have the issues that you are talking about, the blowouts, but anytime I used the "cheaper" diapers we had funky rash butt for days. It was awful.
If your babies butt doesn't seem to be affected by it then I say use the cheaper ones. But, if you notice that he seems to be getting more diaper rashes that's the first thing I would check!

the differences for me have always been in the shape. Huggies would never fit over my baby's flat butt, only pampers did well. I tried to buy off brands, but my silly husband would freak out. I think he'll be mellower for the next one, though, and let me try luvs and parent's choice.

I had the same mind set as you... if they were not the best that made me bad or something. I used up&up from Target during the day and Huggies at night. The only bad thing was I didn't think of doing that sooner!! I really liked up&up and never had a problem with my son breaking out ,Pampers, Parents Choice and Luvs all did bad things to his poor behind Nor did we have any major leaks or explosions. I would never have been able to put him to sleep in them as he tinkled a ton at night!!

My sister and I won't buy anything but Parent's Choice now. I used to hate them, but they redid how they made them and I love them now! I was always a huggies snob (wanted the best on MY baby, lol), but at $6 a package and how well they work, I won't ever buy pricey diapers again!
My DD is 3 and only wears them to bed and they have never leaked overnight for us.

After many tries with different brands I stick with Pampers for my daughter. I tried all of them, Huggies, Luvs, Parents Choice, and they all didn't work for me because of different reasons, it was either a constant rash (which made me think she was allergic to the fabric which they were made of) or they would leak or explode (literally) after she wore them all night. Then I tried Pampers overnight (the 12 hour protection ones) and they work great, no rash, no leak, no explosions LOL!
But if this brand works for you great! They are cheaper so you'll end up saving some money there!

I used Parents Choice for my daughter and they just did not hold enough, leaked all the time. For my niece, they are great. But I did use the Target UP&UP brand. They were great--I just hated the polka dots all over sometimes. For premium diapers you do pay a premium price. I always watched for a great sale matched with great coupons for the Pampers or Huggies.

I hated Huggies. They always leaked on my babies and I tried them on each child. Then a friend gave me LUVS. I really liked them but couldn't find them at the grocery store I regularly shopped at. I thought it would be terribly inconvenient to have to go to a different store just for diapers. Then I gave Publix brand diapers a chance and I have to say I loved them! I used them almost exclusively with my first and second children. Then baby #3 came along and somehow I went to Pampers...I think I got a few packages as gifts. I like them so much that I used Pampers for my third child. I've never used Parents Choice as I believe those are sold by Walmart and I don't have a Walmart in my area.

With all of this said, what diapers you use is based on what is working for your budget and your baby. I have a friend who swore by Huggies. They never leaked for her but on my baby, they leaked every time. I hated them. There is nothing wrong with using a generic brand of anything...as long as it works for you. Hope that helps.

You received a lot of answers already but I must say that I buy the store brand most of the time than name brand diapers. I use Kroger brand during the day but I do like the Huggies Overnights for nighttime. They don't leak for us quite as bad as the store brand. I did use the Pampers Swaddlers for newborns when my kids were first born because I like that they were so soft and had the little cut out at the top for the belly button but as soon as they got older I used store brand. They are cheaper and are just as good if not better than name brand!

My guess is that it's because it's a name brand. I would say, if the Parent's Choice works best, then use it. We buy the BJ's store brand diapers and find them to be just as good as any other.

I used them for a while and did notice some were defective and we did have blow outs with them. I ended up switching to Target brand-I absolutely love them. Like previous poster I wish I would have started using them with my first son (they are half the price of pampers). Now with twins I def. needed a cheaper option.
