Pants for Men with Long Torsos

Hi Ladies. My husband isn't super tall--he's 5' 11 1/2"--but we have the WORST time trying to find pants for him because his legs are short (29" inseam) and his torso is very LONG. Nothing fits him right! It has been driving me crazy lately because he can't sit down or bend over without his butt showing. Has anyone had a similar issue and had any luck finding pants that fit? Thanks for the help!

EDIT: The pants don't seem to rise high enough on his waist. Yes, he probably does need longer shirts, too, and I have been buying those in the big and tall department. He probably has a good 6" between his belly button (what I consider the "waist") and where the waistline of his pants falls--and these are NOT low-rise. He says he has never found pants that fit his waist, and I can see that now!

What can I do next?

I have to admit - I'm confused by what you are asking. My husband is 6 feet tall and has a 29" inseam as well. We just buy the pants with a 30" inseam. I will sometimes buy them in the Big and Tall section because they just seem to sit better on his longer upper body frame. Every once in a while we have to have a pair tailored but we don't really have a problem with the same issue your husband has. In what way do the pants expose his butt? How are they fitting that isn't just right?

Sounds like you all need to become friends with a good tailor - LOL. My husband has issues with his shoulders being really wide and he is trim. He has to buy for the larger (in your hubbies case, longer) body part and get the rest fixed by the tailor at the dry cleaner:)
sorry, not an exact answer, but start with the big and tall stores and just know that the "tall" will be trimmed in the legs.
Best of luck.

Why would his butt be showing if he bends over? Don't his pants cover his butt? Is he sagging them? My husband also has a 29" inseam, and he never has plumber's crack. His pants sit at his natural waist, and they stay put as long as he wears a belt.

I would do as Christy suggests: Purchase pants for the torso part, even if the legs are 8 inches too long. Then have them tailored.

It's actually not too expensive, for it takes just a short while to cut off the ends and hem. I do it for my hubby, for he has a similar issue, though most of his torso inches are above the waist (try finding a shirt long enough to stay tucked in!). Many cleaners will have on-staff tailoring or will outsource it, and usually these people have certain times they are in the store and could pin the legs.

That's what I would do.

Find a good dressmaker. I have had to do that for skinny legs.

It would be helpful to know what kind of pants you are looking for. Jeans? Casual such as Dockers? Dress ?

Are you sure it's the pants that don't fit? Maybe he needs longer shirts.
