Pantry Items

What items should I keep my pantry stocked with? I like to cook for my family but time can be short. We are trying to lower our grocery budget from 80 dollars to 60 dollars and I would like to keep items in the pantry so that I can just go to the pantry and get out something to make a nice meal for my family of 3.

What can I do next?

When things are on sale stock up. This is the season when a lot of baking staples are on sale. I have a mix that I use for the cream of soups. I have one jar full that equals about 32 cans of soup. Pasta and sauce is a good last minute I don't really feel like cooking meal. A versitle biscuit mix. Canned tomatoes, beans, chilis. Keep stocked on recipes that are family favorites.

Wow! Awesome budget! We spent over $200 a week and I'd love to bring that down to $80 but I'm not sure how. It would depend on the things that you use regularly. I write down my menu's each week and plan even lunches and dinners to and go by that... We do have 4 kids and one on the way and two of them are teens so hopefully $200 a week is good for us. I still haven't figured it out. Good luck to you and good job for sticking to a budget!

Another recommendation is to go to www.samthecookingguy.com
I use a ton of his recipes an thats why I stock the things I do. They are simple and inexspensive. He also has a cook book you can buy and one comming out in April. I think what you stock in your pantry depends a lot on what you cook, so thats why I reccomend him. Hope this helped :)
