I'd like to treat my family (husband and 3 kids ages 12, 15, 16) to Palm Springs or somewhere not far from San Diego for a few days at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Any hotel/resort suggestions? And I'm open to other towns.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your suggestions: I've got them down and will use them in the future. I've decided on Westin Mission Hills Resort villas - they looked the best in the AAA book + a friend mentioned them. But I will examine Rancho Palmas Villas and Marriot Courtyard while there. We can always go back in the future. I'm very excited about this. We haven't had a decent vacation in some time and last time we camped in Grand Canyon. This will be much more luxurious.

The Rancho Las Palmas resort in Palm Springs was great. There is a water slide, lazy river, good sized rooms, lots of restaurants and shopping across the street. I would highly recommend.

Hi C.,

A nice, quiet place to stay that's still close to all the activities is Marriott Courtyard in Palm Desert.

You and your husband can relax at the serenity pool while the kids do the waterslide and river at splashtopia. :)

Enjoy your much deserved break wherever you go.

I took my family to Lake Henshaw one Thanksgiving weekend. There are cabins to rent with kitchens and they have a restaurant on site if you don't want to cook with a small general store next to it. There is fishing on the lake and boat rentals. We walked by the lake, we had a campfire at night and made smores. We drove into Julian for a day and we even went to a dinner/theater showing of A Christmas Carol. It was a very relaxing weekend and we spent time together as a family.
