Pain in Inner Leg

I'm 35 weeks pregnant 36 on Thursday, and for the last 2 to 3 days I have been having a horrible aching pain in my inner right thigh and into my groin. The pain is super intense especially when I lay down, it makes it very difficult to switch postions or even sit up. Is this the baby sitting on my sciatic nerve or what? if it is why is it only on my right side?

What can I do next?

I am 33 weeks pregnant and have had that for several weeks now. I have been going to the chiropractor and it has helped some but I still get it when I lay down sometimes although it isn't usually as intense as it was before.

It could be referred pain from the ligaments that suspend the uterus. I had occasional pain in the same general area when I laid on my back, so painful I couldn't even move to the left or to the right. It only happened with my first pregnancy (by then it was probably all stretched out!). You are a month from due date, and I'm sure it's pregnancy related...your babe is getting bigger and ready to arrive. I wish you all the best....this too shall pass! Hang in (out!) there!

L.,
call your doc!! inner thigh is most likely NOT your sciatic, that runs down the back of your leg from your buttocks. It may or may not be related to your pubic bone adjusting/separating for labor & delivery. I'm one week behind you (35 weeks today!) and with my last baby (she's 14 months this month) I had TERRIBLE pain in my groin. After a thorough check by my ob he told me it had to be a musculo/skeletal problem. So I went to my chiropractor. I will admit it wasn't the most comfortable adjustment I've ever had, but it was marvelous after we got it back where it needed to be!!
I could also see it being a blood clot so get in to the doc or at least call. Those are NOT to be messed with!!
Good luck.

I would definitely talk to your doctor to be on the safe side, but it sounds similar to what I had. My doctor told me it was due to all the stretching my muscles where doing. Hang in there and good luck.

just to be safe, better contact your doctor. Could be a blood clot (although I doubt it). Usually a blood clot is better when laying down, so I doubt it is, but they are very dangerous, and I'd hate for anything to happen. Give doc a call, You're at the docs all the time anyway, right? :D

The sciatic nerve tends to run from the lower back through the butt and down the thigh. Since everything is connected, I get pain in the front of my thigh. The sciatic nerve tends to hurt worse when you get up in the morning and can cause weakness, numbness, and a burning sensation. I stretch my muscles every night and every morning and that seems to help.

Best of luck.

This happened to me too, I think it is just your body getting ready for the delivery and everything is moving into it's place. With me, it hurt really bad to sit up, almost like my muscles weren't strong enough to pull me up. This only happened during my second pregnancy and not my first. It probably had something to do with the fact that I wasn't in as good of shape as I was with my first, :) or should I say :( ! Congrats on your baby!!!

try putting magnesium chloride on it - it should help the pain, OR take an epsom salt warm bath (2 c epsom salt to a bath of warm water for a half hour. Rinse before towling off.
Take liquid vit b complex drops daily under the tounge to help with any nerve pain .

Definately go to the chiropractor. I just had my pelvis adjusted, after it apparently had been out for years and also through five pregnancies. Big improvement!

Best wishes and blessings

See your provider make sure that it is not a DVT. Most sciatic pain is on the buttocks and down the back of the leg.
