M..
.
I came across an interesting thing on ebay and decided to try it. It cost only 2.75 so what would I have to loose, right? She claims she is 93% right! And with most of the people she guessed at, she got good reviews back that she was right. The only questions she asked were.....When the first day of my last menstrual cycle was....the length of my menstrual cycle...my age and my hubbys age....and what gender I wanted (pink or blue). Off of my responses to her, she answered back that it is a boy!
Should I put any confidence in her guess? Has anyone else did this,.
My ultra sound is next friday, so i guess i won't be in suspense for long.
wow! I guess I should have looked up the chinese chart and done it for myself for free, like some of you said. Except the lady told my boy and the chart online told me girl. It was just a fun little thing to do and support the poor lady trying to make money Lol. And she doesn't have my credit card, so I ain't worried. I was mistooken about my ultra sound date, it is the 30th, so I have a few more days. I had a surprise baby last time because the ultrasound couldn't show me, so I guess I am more than ready to see on this one!
.
If I had to guess, she's using the Chinese gender chart - or something similar - which you could've done for free by googling it.
And if that's the case, I can tell you from experience that it's 50% correct. :)
Either way, I H. you get what you're "rooting for"!
Congratulations!
I'm guessing she's right half the time ;-)
Gosh I had no idea it was that easy to make extra cash. Heck even I can guess a baby's gender !!!
I would keep an eye on the credit card statement that you used to pay her and make sure that down the line she isn't sweeping out more than the $2.75. Be happy with whatever sex baby you get. They are all blessings.
I already knew what the gender of my second baby was before my 1st ultrasound...just knew, no doubts...then again I knew w/ my first too (both boys). It wasn't hard when you weigh what the predominent gender of babies born to your husband or his father is/was, and no that's not always a foolproof means either (but in my case it was).
Like someone said below, this woman is right half the time ;).
Wouldn't waste the money though at least it is a small amount, after all you'll find out for sure a week later at your ultrasound. Just my opinion though. ;)
I used the Chinese chart with the same information. It was right 2 out of 3 times for my kids.
Hmm. If one question is "what gender do you WANT" then I would be very skeptical. I've heard that a lot of what gender you get depends on acidity of fluids in both you and husband.
The book "Taking Charge of your Fertility" has a few pages about when to have sex to increase your chances for a boy or a girl, so a lot has to do with what day in your cycle you have sex. Says that if you have sex every day through ovulation, you're more likely to have a boy. If you have sex before ovulation (yet close enough for conception) then you're more likely for a girl.
So I'd be very skeptical of this. Of course, it only cost you a few bucks. But the lady's got a 50/50 chance of getting it right. But I wouldn't go out and buy all boy clothes or anything like that quite yet. Get a sonogram from your doctor.
update : Found this link. I typed in my info for my 2 yr old son and it said boy. http://www.chinesefortunecalendar.com/PredictSex.htm When I clicked submit, found another link that said something about 93% accuracy with a Chinese Lunar Calendar.
;
I know where you're coming from, you just took it one step further than me. I could not WAIT to find out with all three (while women all around me wanted to be 'surprised', either it's a boy or it's a girl, where's the surprise in that?). I liked to refer to the baby as a he or she rather than it, and as soon as I found out he/she took on a personality of their own. Enjoy HIM/HER Mom!
I did this! I don't remember her asking which gender we wanted but she did predict a boy for our last one...and she was right!
She must be looking at the Chinese chart. I forget the real name of it but it is accurate. Please do not have more then 1 or 2 ultrasounds. They damage the baby's auditory processing for life. Something drs will never believe but it is true in the field I am in. Good luck.
I agree with Andrea, however the Chinese calendar didn't work with my first two but most people that use it, it work, I know it was right about my nieces and nephews and friend's kids...
I use to have dreams right before I found out that I was pregnant, I called them my baby dreams...what ever the sex was in my dream my child was the opposite, I had the dream with each of my children, and all three are the opposite of my first dream of them... also how I usually knew I was pregnant... never heard of anyone else dreaming
with the info that she is asking for it sounds like she is just going by the Chines Gender prediction calender. It is supposed to be pretty accurate. I even looked on it for my first 2 pregnancies and it was right. But you don't have to pay her to use it. Just google Chines Gender charts and there are tons of free sites you can go to and see what the prediction is.
LOL I can't believe there are people making money off this! haha :-P
I just always use the Chinese Birth Chart. She may very well be looking at it as well. All she really needs for it is your age at conception, and the month of conception.
She may use all the info she asked for to check several "myths" and pick the answer she gets the most.
Chinese Birth Chart has always been correct for me :) But it's free to find on the Internet.... :D
I am sure most of us remember "Ms. Cleo" the Jamaican Clairvoyant on television. The saddest part she was not even from Jamaica, and was born in California. Ms. Cleo is also a professional actress, and I must say she played her role perfectly. She made a small fortune, and deceived so many people. You see it as only $2.75, and if I could get enough people to send me $2.75 I would be able to save my home. I owe the bank $122,000.00 plus penalities, and could pay it off if I could get 122,000.00 people to send me $1.00 each. I am at risk of being in the street, and small donations could prevent it. It can be a lot of money when you ad it up, and you do not know how many innocent victims like you are out there. I do not know how old you are, but please be careful and besides you are about to get an ultra sound soon. You need to be more patient, and you are encouraging con artists. Have a nice day, and good luck with the baby. You could be having twins LOL!
She is just going by the same calendar that many of the doctors have in their offices. It predicts by mentrual dates and conception dates, what sex you are going to have. It's all by seasons and supposed to be pretty accurate. Like the other moms said, I would watch the credit card statement.
I guess if you find this fun and entertaining, no harm done.
However, I don't put a lot of credence in these things.
I managed a radio station and we had a psychic that came in once a week and did on air "readings".
I was pregnant at the time and she told me I was having a boy.
WRONG!
Look, your baby is either a boy or a girl so she'll either be right or she'll be wrong.
If she's right, I guess you can convince yourself that she "knew".
If she's wrong, you spent the money for the heck of it.
It's the law of averages.
Your baby is what it is.
I didn't know they "sold" these services on e-bay.
Interesting.
I wanted to know the sex of both my babies, but I figured that even ultra sounds can be wrong sometimes. So, I just tried to be ready for anything.
Best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy and don't buy too much pink or too much blue. We had a girl's name picked out, my husband was convinced we were having a girl, it's like he wasn't accepting any other outcome.....and we had a beautiful boy.
Just pray for a healthy baby regardless, and like I said, consider this something you did for fun.
She's got a 50% chance of being right - just as I do in telling you that you are in fact going to have a girl. And I didn't charge you anything for that. :) Gender prediction is for fun only, but you already knew that. I am currently 18 weeks along, so I understand the temptation to "know" sooner (and there are plenty of products/people to take advantage of that). So, good luck, and I H. you have the gender you want. :)
Wow. She is making a lot of money off of people isn't she?! How does she verify her results? I think you got taken. Granted it was only for $2.75, but if she gets 500 people to do that, she makes some good extra money on the side. LOL
There are some factors that affect the likelihood of boy vs. girl, though to get very high accuracy with prediction one would want to use intuitive methods, such as dowsing/divining (e.g. asking the universal information field and seeing the response through a pendulum held in your hand). Those with skill who dowse for underground oil or water have been found to have over 90% accuracy, so the same could be achieved with dowsing for baby gender if the woman is adept at this and not just guessing. Anyway, I don't see the point of trying to find this out in advance unless the method is 100% accurate - what can you do with that information other than buying baby stuff designed for a particular gender?
