Hello Mamas! A package of gum made it with the wash into the dryer and I now have streaks of gum everywhere on the inside. I have been able to remove the large "chunks" but haven't been able to get anything else out. I tried to run the dryer on high and use a wet towel to wipe it after it was warm but no luck. Any suggestions?

Try this on for size. Put the clothes in the freezer. When the gum is frozen it should peel right off. Hope this helps!
Two products I have used for crayons, gum, stickers and such is either Goo Be gone or Goof off. The Goof Off is however kinda smelly and needs to be used sparingly. The Goo be gone is made with citrus and smells wonderful. Good luck, I had the same thing happen to me too!!
Hi S..
This just happened to us two days ago! My husband left a whole, open pack. Here's what I did, and it worked..
First I used a damp towel to get off the "clumps"
Then I sprayed tons of Goo Gone(I use the orange scented) - that stuff works wonders!
When it was all off, the dryer was a bit greasy, so I went back with a wet cloth and rinsed it and dried it really good. I got my head in there with the flashlight to make sure i didn't miss any spots. I ran a load with some old t-shirts that were wet, just to make sure it was all gone - I didn't want to ruin anything in case there was some left.
It was a really great experience! I look forward to doing it again:) Good luck.

Try Shaklee's Basic H2 non-toxic & biodegradable cleaning concentrate. Dab full strength onto gum areas, both front and back of fabric and then add water to area, let sit for 10 minutes or so, then scrape off residue of gum. Then throw back in the wash. It works wonders on gum! You can order it ____@____.com/cpeterson. Happy 4th!

PS I also have some samples available. contact me @ ____@____.com.
Try using peanut butter...it does the trick in getting gum out of hair.
Shaklee's Basic-H2 works at removing gum. I haven't tried it for gum that's been dried, but I would give it a whirl. It's an amazing product. If you send me your address, I will send you some samples and you can try it. If you live close to Downers Grove, you can come by and get it qucker.
Try maybe putting ice cubes one the areas where there is gum ...wait until it hardens and scraps off in chunks...good luck!
I don't know if anyone else said this yet, but try ice? It may freeze & become brittle & be able to be chipped away? Good luck.
use ice on hit then it will peel off. or use alchol wipes to get out but then you have to make sure you wash the inside out well.
use gue be gone not sure on the spelling it works like charm!!you can get it any where.
Hi S.. Have you tried goog one on a rag and wiped the inside? After you use goog ne and the gum is removed you can remove the "grease" feel with a little soap and water or rubbing alcohol. Hjope it works for you.
As you'be already read from many posters.....Goo-Gone & a credit card. I wouldn't even waste my time with trying anything else, until you try it...it WILL work...that stuff is amazing!!
Been there myself! I used "goo gone." Just a small amount on a rag and then I wiped it down with a soapy rag and finished with a clean wet rag to make sure all the reside was gone.

S., have you tried using "goo be gone"? It is sold in most local pharmacies and home repair stores. If you put a little on the spot it should rub right off. I would then suggest you use a little warm soapy water to remove the oily residue left behind. The form of stuff is liquid and is not in a can. good luck. Orange oil got lipstick out of my comforter when my two year old decided to be "pretty". You can try that too!
Try Goo Be Gone, available at Walmart, Target, Mendars etc.
Works on just about anything. Hope this helps!!

Hi S., This happened to me. I googled it and found that you can rub a dryer sheet over the gum to remove it. It took some elbow grease, but the oils in the dryer sheet loosened up the gum pretty well. I was surprised at how well it worked. I never would have waited so long to clean the dryer if I'd known how easy it was. Good luck!
I had a melted blue crayon in the dryer. I heard after the fact that WD40 should remove dryer mishaps. Good luck.
ice makes the gum hard and easy to peel or pick off. I also heard rubbing peanut butter on gum but I have never tried it.
That happened to me. I just freaked. My son sat down with this little plastic scraper from pampered chef and patiently scraped it all out for me. (I think he's the one who left the gum in his pocket.) Worked great! Goo gone works terrific, too.
Ice and mild scraping. Or peanut butter will disolve the gummy substance into powdery substance. Watch the oil in the peanut butter though.
26 yrs being a mom to boys, and washing and drying just about anything, I've learned.Good Luck!

I would think you would try the opposite...apply ice to get it cold and hard to allow it to break off. Or, peanut butter works in the hair, maybe you can also give that a try. My guess is the ice would work best.

Goo Gone!!! It works. My daughter accidentally left a package of mini (tic tac like) gum in her jeans once. My dryer looked like someone shot pellets in it. It may take some arm work but it does get it off. You can find them anywhere. Walgreens, hardware stores.... Good luck!
Use ice cubes to freeze the gum inside the dryer. Once it is hard you can scrape it off with a razor blade. You will have to do one spot at a time and take a flashlight with you when you begin so you can see better. Freezing gum even works on carpeting and fabrics and you can usually scrape most of it off with a butter knife. If there is residue left, try using something like goo be gone to get the rest.
Goo Gone, for sure! A friend that borrowed our washer/dryer had the same thing happen, and that's what did the trick! Good luck! I know they have it at Home Depot and Bed, Bath and Beyond...maybe Target too.
Try Goo Gone. This stuff works miracles getting all kinds of things off of all kinds of surfaces. You can get it at any hardware store and it even comes in a spray bottle.
Goo Gone and a plastic knife or old credit card will do the trick!

I have the same issue at least once a month with a at least a stick of gum my daughter leaves in her jeans or hoodie. If I off just once and do not look inside all pockets before laundry day. I have this problem. What I do is let it dry it hardens, then with a hard plastic surface maybe a knife, remember it needs to be plastic so you do not scracth the inside of the dryer. I use a Pamper's Chef scrapper and it works great. Hope this helps you.

Question:
My son left a pack of gum in his zipped pocket when I washed AND dried them before I found out. Now I'm left with gum spots on the one leg. Is there any hope?
Answer:
Try popping the pants in the freezer overnight and then scraping away the frozen gum with a butter knife. Remove any remaining residue with a little rubbing alcohol! (Always remember to test for colorfastness before treating clothing with stain removers)
Hope this helps!
rubbing alcohol and alot of rubbing
By now you have had lots of answers.
I'm sure you had the ice cube method, the Peanut butter method. I use Shaklee's Basic H, straight and not diluted. It works really well. Doesn't add oil to the fabric which creates another set of problems, and get the entire wad of gum out of fabric.
If you haven't solved this problem yet, get back to me, I'd be happy to send you a sample so you can see how well it works.
Goo Gone!!!! Its a miracle product and works every time!!!
