Don't do it. They don't work. The only thing you should be thinking in terms of a diet is eating for optimal health. Eat mostly plants; fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, legumes/beans, nuts and seeds. Minimize animal protein as this contains only fat and calories. There is nothing in meat that cannot be consumed by eating plants (except for b12, but that's another story).
When you eat mostly plants (complex carbohydrates) you consume a lot of fiber. Fiber fills you up. Aim to consume, at minimum, 50 grams per day. Do increase fiber comsumption slowly to allow your digestive system time to adjust. For every 10 grams of fiber you add to your diet, you eliminate 200-300 calories.
And you must exercise. You live in Texas? Start walking. Make it a priority and schedule it like you would any other appointment. It is essential for good health. Add some weight training. You can get some great, simple ideas on the internet and it doesn't require a lot of equipment. Weight training and aerobic exercise build lean muscle, which burns more calories all by itself, just sitting there. Lean muscle takes less space, it's more dense, so you lose inches as well as weight. In fact, don't be surprised that you might gain weight when you start exercising as you build muscle. That's normal. You will notice your clothes fitting better.
The fastest and safest rate at which you can lose weight is about 2 lbs per week. Anything else is dangerous and you'd be losing water and muscle, not fat, which is what you want. Do drink lots of pure, filtered water as well. If you don't, the body uses fat cells to store water and you want water in the muscles and other cells, helping with energy needs and cellular function.
I have a ton of other great ideas so feel free to contact me. I've got lots of great recipes as well. I work with a number of health care professionals, personal trainers and I am taking a series of classes taught by a Naturopath who has her PhD in Nutrition. I feel that I can offer you credible advice. Good luck. D.
