Outdoor Tampoline

Okay, so I am considering getting a trampoline for the family. I want to know what you all think of round vs square trampolines. I checked out the prices, and I found that for some reason the square ones are about $200 more than the same size round one. What gives? Is one better than the other? What do you think? Thanks!

*Edit - While I appreciate everyone's concern, I still plan on getting a trampoline and would like some advice on the question I asked. I grew up with a trampoline and my daughter is in gymnastics and uses a trampline there. As I said, I'm debating buying a square tramp from my daughter's gymnastics instructor or spending less on a round one. If anyone has any advice on that, I would really appreciate it :). Thanks!

I also checked with my insurance and there is no problem with them.

Trampolines are very dangerous. Pediatricians recommend that children NEVER use them. One of the neighbors at my sons fathers house has one and Evan is always asking if he can use it. He'll be 4 in April. I have told him, in no uncertain terms, NO. I come to find out that his dad let him on it. I flipped. They are just not worth the risk.

Yep, check your homeowners. That was one of the first question I was asked when getting a new policy. And take a few minutes to check out the injury rates. A trampoline is something I'd never invest in for my family.

Dawn said exactly what I was going to say.. Check your homeowner insurance before this purchase..

If you can agree on terms and still want to purchase the trampoline, I suggest the less expensive with the complete netting.. Your kids will follow your rules, it is "other peoples children" that will act like maniacs and not follow the rules.. The netting will help keep the bodies from flying off of the Trampoline..

ONLY 1 child at a time. No exceptions.

A lot of health insurance won't cover injuries from a trampoline either, since it is the most hazardous thing parents get for their kids. Especially dental, when they hit the netting and pull out several teeth at a time.

My friends daughter was just jumping around and the mat hit her on the bottom of the foot wrong and snaped her shin bone right below the growth plate, the Orthopedic Doctor had never seen a break like that before. My friend had to pay a lot out of pocket for things.

Trampolines a great fun for the whole family. My 3 yr.old grandson is in a toddler type gymnastics class just so he can spend time bouncing/jumping. Just be aware of the possible complications/issues that can come from having one on your property before you spend all that money.

We had a round one from Academy Sports for about 6 yrs. My daughter loved it as did her friends. Just make sure everyone follows the rules.

The round are the more popular in my neighborhood.......almost every home with children has one. We sold ours at Christmas because daughter is 15 and no longer used it.

We had no issues with home owners but it is something to think about checking. Just to be on the safe side.

This is a KILLER site... they do destructive and safety testing of every major trampoline on the market

My favorites are the videos of how they have a 200+lb man attempting to knock over a tramp from the inside. :)

I bought my daughter one when she was five and we finally had to get rid of it after she turned 12, she and her step sisters LOVED it. They even had sleep overs on it. I bought a round one becasue it was less expensive AND it semed to fit the yard configuration better. They're TONS of fun, even for adults. If your daughter is experienced in gymnastics, a round one may not give her enough room for playing, she may like the length of the rectangle one. You can get nets for both and they come with padding for the springs.

The best trampoline is no trampoline. Simply too dangerous.

I'm getting a round one just to save some money and I am getting the one that has the side guard so the kids don't go flying off it.
