I am trying to get organized in life in 2007 so.....I have about 10 purses that I keep and routate through and wear from time to time. I am wondering if anyone has any great ideaa of how to store them in not a lot of space and still keep them very usable. I am feeling the crunch of all the kid stuff in our house now and trying to down size in all areas. Only keep what we need etc. Also anyother great closet (clothes) organizing types would be great as well!

What can I do next?

Wow...only 10 purses? My husband wishes I had only 10! I take the 8-10 that I'm rotating through in a season and keep them in a nice-looking wicker basket under a table that's by my front door. They are empty (I keep the essentials in a smaller basket and dump them into whichever purse I'm using) so they fit nicely, are out of the way, but still easy to get to.

Right now I have all of my purses stashed inside of my biggest purse/overnight bag and then it sits on the shelf. I used to have them all in a duffle bag and then put a nail right on the inside front corner or back wall of the closet and hung it by the handle.

I had an extra hanger designed to hold four skirts. I hang my purses from each clip.

I bought a vertical shoe holder that hangs in the closet. It is big enough to hold 10 pairs of shoes (I got it at Walmart). I put a purse in each opening. It works great. They are easily accessible and organized. It only works for medium to small bags though. Larger ones don't fit as well.

I've noticed that most people have lots of dead space in the bottom of their closet. You hang your clothes, and everything underneath goes unused. I went out and got some small, cheap shelving units and placed them under my hanging clothess. Its gives me lots of extra space for my bags and shoes rather than just piling them on the floor.

I just saw a segment on Rachael Ray's show that talked about organization and the lady on there suggested using shower curtain hooks attached to one another and hung around the hook of a regular hanger for purses.....it is inexpensive and then they all hang in a very small space because they are hanging downward. I hope I described this ok for you so it makes sense....good luck and I hope it works for you!!

Hi - I am working on the same thing this year. A friend of mine suggested getting rid of any duplicates. She was referring to toys but I am applying the advice to other areas of my home. I would suggest storing the purses you don't want to part with with tissue paper.

I am in the same boat! Lots of stuff with not enough space. I would suggest using hangers also.
I recently joined www.flylady.com & it is a web site that helps with organizing your home & life. It has helped me! I am far from perfect but babysteps work for me! Good luck!
